Did you know that Newtonmore has a Heritage Trail? 👣
Newtonmore is a traditional Highland village with much to offer visitors. The heritage trail has been set up to tell you something about the history of the village. Newtonmore has been a popular holiday resort since the 1880s and used to be known as “the gem of Highland health resorts” ⛰️
If you are visiting Newtonmore, you can pick up a trail leaflet from local shops, cafes and accommodation providers and enjoy a stroll through the village. You will find 13 information plaques along the trail and a PDF of the leaflet is available.
NB: inclusion in the trail is not an invitation into the property. Please remember that some of the sites are on private land and we ask that you respect all property owners’ privacy.

The Highland Folk Museum has a new visitor!

Staff involved in the wildcat release programme from the Saving Wildcats project have been tracking the cats’ movement through the area and we are excited to find that one of the released wildcats has been photographed and tracked visiting our site.

Hopefully he will help keep down our rabbit population...

What a gorgeous shot shared by Jamie McDevitt on the summit at 5:30am last weekend. "The early bird catches the most amazing sunrise." We couldn't agree more Jamie 👌

Stories are told of kelpies who inhabit & haunt lochs in Scotland usually in the shape of a horse. Maybe to keep children from playing too close to the water? 👀

Teddy showing off his smile😆

Did you know alpacas do not have any top front teeth only molars 🦷 They do have pretty impressive bottom teeth which can be quite long (as seen by our model teddy🤣)
When hand feeding the alpacas their lack of front teeth means you need to hold your hand flat in order for them to get their tasty snacks

After Culloden, the Highlanders regrouped here at Ruthven Barracks near Kingussie, but after an order from Prince Charles (Bonnie Prince Charlie) to disperse, they set the barracks on fire. The buildings have remained a ruin since then but are still an amazing place to visit and will appear to you differently every day depending on the light.
