Menes: The Unifier of the Two Lands

Menes was a king of Upper Egypt, and led a military campaign against Lower Egypt, achieving a decisive victory at the Battle of Memphis. After the battle, Lower Egypt surrendered to Menes' rule, and the Two Lands were united under his rule.
After unifying the Two Lands, Menes founded a new capital at Memphis, a city located in a central location between Upper and Lower Egypt. He also established the first central government in Egypt, which was responsible for governing the country as a whole.
