*Appreciation post* This is Lindsay the Volunteer Extraordinaire! She has been tirelessly helping out with Viking Week and also earlier this summer at Scapa Beach. She does lots of volunteering in archaeology in Orkney. Always positive and reliable, and, it turns out, a genius at getting people to come into the Craft Day.

Today I visited the exhibition Fashioning the Viking Age in the National Museum in Copenhagen. Surprised but delighted to see embroidered leopards and lions on a 9th Century tunic.

Thanks to all those who came out to the Witchcraft walking tour last night. There's another one on Tuesday 31st October, starting at 7 pm from outside The Brig Larder, 1 Albert Street.

With Halloween fast approaching, many people are on the lookout for ghostly goings on and spooky stories to enjoy. A special Witchcraft Trials walking tour through Kirkwall on the night itself will offer all of the above, alongside an important message about prejudice and tolerance.
