Cenarth

Cenarth sits on the river Teifi which marks the border between the counties of Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. The focus of the village is Cenarth Falls, a series of small waterfalls and pools and a well-known salmon leap.

In the village you'll find a couple of cosy pubs and a few tea rooms / cafes serving local produce.

Enjoy a Day Out in the Charming Village of Llansteffan ✨

Just 8 miles southwest of Carmarthen, Llansteffan is the perfect spot for a relaxing day by the sea and exploring a historic castle.

Start your day on the golden sandy beach, great for enjoying a picnic, building sandcastles and finding seashells. It’s a family-friendly spot with shaded areas and a play park for the kids.

After some beach time, take a steady climb up the hill to Llansteffan Castle. While mostly in ruins, the castle’s remaining structure gives a glimpse of its past splendour. Built in the 12th century, though the site has been significant since the Iron Age.

The hilltop can only be reached on foot, but the climb is definitely worth it. You’ll be rewarded with breath-taking panoramic views where the River Tywi meets the sea, stretching over the estuary, Pembrey Forest, and the Gower.

Around a ten mile drive away from Sunnybank. Stunning village full of history. Coffee shops, gift shops, public houses and more

Laugharne Castle is a picturesque medieval castle located in the town of Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, Wales.

It stands on the banks of the River Taf and has a history that spans over 900 years, making it a fascinating site for history enthusiasts and visitors alike.

The original earthwork fortress wft shops public houses and more.
as captured by the Lord Rhys, self-proclaimed ‘rightful prince of south Wales’, in 1189 and again by Prince Llywelyn ap Iorwerth in 1215. Even after the de Brian family built the rugged stone castle we see today in the mid-13th century it was devastated by Prince Llywelyn ap Gruffudd.

Walking in Carmarthenshire 🥾

From rugged and wild strolls along the Carmarthenshire stretch of the Wales Coast Path, to awe-inspiring views across the Carmarthenshire countryside and mountains, there’s no better place to put on your walking boots and explore than Carmarthenshire 🗺️

Check out a few our favourite routes ☟

📍 Dinas Nature Reserve
Take the approach from Llandovery along the River Tawe across the Dinas Nature Reserve, an RSPB managed reserve. A beautiful walking route for everyone to enjoy, not only bird watchers 🦅

📍 Brechfa
This rural walk meanders through steep sided and wooded river valleys and follows quiet country lanes, leading to an ancient oak woodland and flower rich meadows, all the while following the river Cothi, one of Wales’ most beautiful rivers.

📍 Cenarth
This trail connects two of the Teifi valley’s most historic settlements, Cenarth and Newcastle Emlyn, it follows an old roadway, possibly the route followed by the army of Owain Glyndwr in June 1403.
