Imagine my surprise when a pheasant, who had been sitting in the middle of the track to Kingfisher cottage, stood up..she had been sitting on gorgeous little chicks warming them up! It took quite some time for them to get to the safety of the grass verge. I love that wildlife is all around us ❤️ 🐣

Wish I had been quicker with my camera, a huge number of geese flew up right in front of me whilst walking in the field above Osprey Cottage. Beautiful to watch and so noisy! It sounds like it’s blowing a gale in my video but it’s not really, just a sensitive microphone 🙄

With heavy snow overnight I knew changeover day at the cottages was going to be a challenge when I woke up to this ❄️! With one set of cleaners snowed in it was left to Mandy and I to do our best finding extra laundry and tackling the changeovers together. The roads were all white and snow was coming down fast. It took us 30 minutes to do a 10 minute journey to Osprey Cottage. 5 of us ended up pushing a BMW up the hill out of Meigle that was wheel spinning in the snow 💪 2 lorries also got stuck causing total chaos! A branch fell just before me missing my car by seconds as I headed off to stack logs at islabank. I was relieved when all guests arrived in one piece having set off super early on their journeys. Luckily we escaped having power cut and all guests are warm and cosy relaxing by their fires this evening 🔥 Phew!

One thing I absolutely love about living on a farm is all the wildlife we share it with. It makes me smile when I come across the guinea fowl that live wild here. We have 6 in total, I came across 4 just pottering in a field.
They are such characters and make a clattering noise as a warning to each other it they are worried. #guineafowl #wildlife

Happiness in a paddling pool full of ducks 🦆
Our son Jack set up Quacker Jack to sell duck eggs as a means of earning pocket money. 2 years on and Jack’s birds, that he raised from ducklings, are leading a very happy life in the garden.

Just saw 4 red squirrels at our feeder in the garden! I managed to scare two off when I rushed outside but these two hung around 😀 Love that we have so many on the farm❤️

One unexpected benefit of waking up early was hearing the dawn chorus this morning. This video was taken in our kitchen. I didn’t even open a window, the birds are so loud!

Such a beautiful day, for a moment all I could hear was birdsong and the world seemed perfect and calm. Such a strange feeling when in reality nothing is normal right now. Stay safe everyone and stay isolated. Awful not being able to hug those we love, particularly on Mother’s Day ❤️

Peppa, our black Labrador, who is almost 11 never, fails to amaze me. She is totally blind,having had her second eye removed in April this year, yet she runs around the fields as happy as any seeing dog just following my voice. She is such a superstar and so incredibly loving, just getting on with what life dealt her just bumping off things as she goes...Love her to bits 🥰🐾
