Still harvesting some of our own fruit and vegetables from the Eden House Garden. Today's delight is potatoes in all shapes and sizes. Meet Mr Potato Head 🤣🤣. How on earth does a potato grow ears & a nose. The wonders of nature 😁😆. Will be a shame to chop him up and make him into delicious Rosemary Roast potatoes 😊

We love a bit of sculpture in the Eden House Garden. Horse is now freshly teak oiled ready for another winter. Mr Hare is still looking very smart & Colin the Bull is looking magnificent in his new home. A fine menagerie of Garden sculptures. 🤗

The Eden House garden is full of summer colour now. The sunshine has been out and the plants are loving it. I'm particularly delighted with the show of Holly Hocks this year, which I grew from seed pods collected on our walks around the Lanes of Pickering. Eden House has also benefitted from a little bit of a face-lift this year, with new windows and patio doors, and new rendering across the back of the house & cottage. We're thrilled with how lovely everything is looking. We're looking forward to welcoming all our summer guests to the Holiday Cottage. We get a wonderful bounty of soft fruits, berries, rhubarb, apples, plums, and more from the garden, all through the summer & autumn. They freeze amazingly, meaning that we use them to make jams, compote, crumbles and other delights, all year round. Using up the last of the 2023 late season raspberries making jam today. Here at Eden House Holiday Cottage, we like to provide guests with a few little extras to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Our Welcome Hamper includes some little treats, including one of my homemade bakes. Yummy scones fresh from the oven are often one of the treats to welcome guests. Together with my homemade jam, made with fruits from our garden.

Guests staying at Eden House Holiday Cottage in the historic market town of Pickering, are welcomed by a little Hamper of some basic essentials & a few homemade treats, including my delicious fruit cake, homemade jams (made with fruits from the Eden House garden), and freshly baked bread. The fruit cake is a particular favourite with Guests. It's an old recipe passed down to me by a good friend, from her Granny. Made in a pan on the hop. It's absolutely delicious 😋 Guests can also enjoy looking out onto the garden, which is full of colour, new buds and blossoms.

A stay at Eden House Holiday Cottage and in Pickering - Gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors - is great at any time of the year. It's change over day at Eden House Holiday Cottage today. I will be ensuring everything is s***k and span for guests arriving today. I leave a little Welcome Hamper which includes some basic essentials such as Milk, and freshly baked bread, also some treats, including my homemade fruit cake and jam. We supply lots of little extras at Eden House to make a stay as comfortable as possible. Complimentary tea and coffee, tissues, toiletries, and in the colder months some logs for the log burning fire.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS AT EDEN HOUSE HOLIDAY COTTAGE: our lovely holiday cottage is situated in the beautiful historic market town of Pickering, within easy walking distance of all the local amenities and attractions, including shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants, the historic North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, Beck Isle Museum and Pickering Castle, all within an easy 5 minute stroll. There are also plenty of walking routes straight from the door, without needing to get the car out. Alternatively, just a short drive from Pickering and you are into the open Yorkshire Moors, or can enjoy beautiful open countryside or Forestry. One of our favourite local walks, starts a Levisham Village (a 10 minute drive), then down to Levisham Station where you can see the Steam Train coming and going, up through the forestry, onto the open Yorkshire Moors and back via the famous Hole of Horcum. This particular circuit is about 9.5 miles, but there are many route options for walking around this stunning area. At the moment, the Moors are a carpet of purple Heather and are just stunning. We could hear the Bees buzzing around over-head. The Highland cows are a regular sighting and have cute little babies with them at the moment. They are very placid, but always wise to show them respect. Drive a bit further over the Moors and you're at the dramatic Yorkshire Coast; Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hood's Bay, and our favourites Staithes & Runswick Bay. So much to do and see whether you want to get out into the great outdoors or take in some history and culture.

We've enjoyed one of our stunning local walks today. There is so much amazing countryside for guests staying at Eden House Holiday Cottage to enjoy. This is one of our favourites and right on our doorstep. Just a short drive to Levisham village, then walking down to Levisham Station where the famous steam train runs, through the forest, then up onto the open Moors to Skelton Tower for some amazing views. Across the open Moors with far reaching views. The sky was amazing today. We had the whole Moor all to ourselves for miles. The peace and tranquility was amazing. Just the Sky Larks darting around, singing their song. It was extremely hot out there today. Clearly only us mad enough to venture out in the blistering heat, but it was worth it to see the big blue sky and be out there on our own. We came back across the top of the Moor from the Hole of Horcum to a very welcome end of the walk and a much anticipated pint in the Horseshoe Inn. You really can't beat a pub at the end of a walk. We sat and watched the storm clouds brewing up nicely. A perfect way to spend an afternoon and only 15 minutes drive from our doorstep... our circuit was 8.4 miles but there are longer and shorter routes from the village. Something for every to enjoy. 😎 oh and topped off by seeing the cute teddybear Highland Cow calves all flaked out under a tree. So cute....

Guests staying at Eden House Holiday Cottage are greeted by a Welcome Hamper of little treats and some essentials to get their holiday off to a good start. Among the little treats they will find a yummy jar of my homemade Eden House Jam. Made with fresh fruits from our lovely garden. This batch is Strawberry and Redcurrant. The redcurrants add a lovely dimension to the flavour but also pack lots of pectin to aid the setting. Also, in the Hamper is a loaf of freshly baked bread.
