To all our farmers heading down to London today, and all our farmers having to stay behind to milk, to feed calves, to tend to their flocks and pigs - to do what they do every single day.

To those who own their farms, and to those that rent their farms. To those who have enjoyed a lifetime working their land and building a resilient business that the next generation are excited to take on. To those that are just starting out and battling to make ends meet. To those who have invested heavily in getting their farms future proofed. To those who probably should be slowing down a bit, but can't. To those who love their way of life, and those that are questioning their way of life. To those who are struggling to know what to do next. To those who are terrified of what might come next.

Strangles – what you need to know....

Strangles is one of the most common and contagious diseases of horses. It is caused by bacteria called Streptococcus equi. It affects horses of all ages and types. Strangles can spread very quickly through direct contact between horses or indirect contact e.g. tack, people, equipment or other animals. Symptoms can include raised temperature, nasal discharge, cough, lymph node abscesses (usually under the jaw) and respiratory distress.

What should you do if there’s an outbreak?

1) Isolate the affected horse immediately.
2) Close the yard, no movement in or out.
3) Monitor all healthy horses (taking temperatures) to detect any new cases as early as possible.
4) People who are in contact with horses outside the yard should stay away.
5) Maintain cleanliness and hygiene, disinfect using a DEFRA approved product

🐎 Half Day Trek 🐎

The Half Day trek is our most popular ride for all ages and abilities. This trek is approximately 2 hours long and gives you the opportunity to experience the scenery, wildlife and tranquillity that the Elan Valley has to offer. We take different routes each day, riding through the rivers, woods and over the hills experiencing a variety of different terrain along the way.

Situated in the beautiful Elan Valley. We take different routes each day in the hills, valleys, woodlands and rivers rarely using any metalled road.

Nearly all our horses & ponies are home bred, broken in & schooled for trekking in this area.

We are celebrating 49 years trekking licence & 43 years recommendation by the BHS in 2015.
