After years in the boat building industry, honing his skills and knowledge of timber, composites and metals, he decided to bring his expertise to joinery. Jack's experience allows him to tackle the most bespoke and challenging projects and delivered with the high quality and finish you'd expect from super yachts. J W Selwood Joinery has the sustainability of the materials used in the project at th

e highest priority. Were possible UK grown and milled timber will be used. Jack personally hand selects every board, needed for the project, at the timber yard. This means the best quality timber, the correct quantity of timber, it supports the local industry and the future of UK forests.

The work continues on repairing the upper frontage of the arcade in St Ives. We've been scarfing in new sections to replace the rot. Now if it could just stop raining that would be helpful! ☔

Work with a view!⚓

We are working on repairing the upper frontage of the arcade in St Ives. The Arcade has been a feature of the harbour front since 1934 and is still busy bringing joy to the visitors and the pool rooms giving a central place for locals.

We are going to be building a new farm house for the farm that we live and work on including the joinery workshop. Ita a farm that we want to keep in the family and as my parents get on we will slowly take over the running of. This will the farm continues to e in the family as well as continue to be a part of the community.

The home will be as eco friendly as financially possible with ground source heat pumps, solar panels, rain water harvesting aswell as being built from timber with a lime limecrete slab.

We will be breaking ground on this project in the late spring (or once the bus has been finished).

I was approached by a client who brought his own designs for a Brise-soleil (rose climby thing 😉) and cedar panelled door for his new build. With his attention to detail and quality of new build it was a pleasure to work on a project to such a high standard.

The building work was carried out by Castle bay construction

This page follows the personal project of our double decker bus conversion. It's a slow burning project as I'm busy with the work you see in the joinery, but it's a passion project I want to pursue more of.

You'll also see our latest post for the next mad hat conversion.

So check out .selwood.bus and give us a follow

Another one from the Georgian manor house restoration we carried out earlier in the year. Traditional shutters are a brilliant way of providing more insulation than curtains and are also great for giving a full black out.
