The Seven Bridges walk from Ripon to Studley Royal Deer Park
Full trail: Miles: 3.8 (km: 6.08) Duration: 1 hour 30 mins - 2 hours
This circular walk is considered fairly easy and follows the meandering Skell river along the valley. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.
There is a café and National Trust car parking at the gates to Fountains Abbey https://maps.app.goo.gl/4WZiW1bXgRtmfY9Q8 or you could start your walk in Ripon, making your way to the stile opposite the River Laver Holiday Park on Studley Road.
Once you reach the road running through Studley Roger village, turn left and walk to the gates leading up the hill to the church. Continue up the hill, turning left before reaching the church. Walk down the winding path to the lake where you should take the fork to the left side of the lake. As you make your way along here you will see the first of the 5 bridges that still remain.
We recommend using one of the various maps and apps that will guide you from here.

The Firework Champions event at Newby Hall at the weekend turned out to be full of surprises. This year’s event unexpectedly included not one, but two drone displays. These were pretty spectacular on their own but when the drones spelt out ‘Marry Me’ in the sky, the audience became curious. After a few moments the name ‘Megan’ and a heart appeared in the sky above, and the audience “Ooo’d” and “Ahh’d, with cheers, whistles, and clapping filling the air. The moment was captured and happily, Megan Greenwood, 27 said “Yes” to Rhys Whelan, 30.
Every evening for over one thousand, one hundred and thirty years a tradition (and one-time law) has been upheld in Ripon Market Square. Originally the Wakeman, and now the Ripon Hornblower, sounds the horn 4 times at 9pm on the corners of the obelisk in the Market Square before visiting the mayor (wherever he might be at that time) to sound it again to confirm that the "watch is set". It is well worth a visit to see this and to find out more about Ripon and its history. #riponhornblower #destinationripon #ripon #thingstodoinripon
