📢IMPORTANT NOTICE: Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal will be closed on Tuesday 31 December due to forecast high winds and heavy rainfall.

The Met Office have issued a weather warning for tomorrow with a forecast for very high wind speed gusts. Our team of gardeners and rangers have been closely monitoring this and unfortunately, we have had to make the decision to close the estate for the safety of staff, volunteers and visitors. We know that this will be very disappointing for those who were hoping to visit on New Years Eve and we are very sorry to be bringing you this news.

We hope to be open as normal on New Years Day but please check the website for any updates before you set off as we'd hate for you to have a wasted journey.

What a shame!

Unfortunately we have had to take the decision to cancel our New Year's Event on the Market Square due to the high winds forecast and yellow weather warning.

This weekend is your last chance to hear live music in the abbey. We'll be joined by Ripon Choral Society on Saturday 28 December and Bradford Concert Band on Sunday 29 December who'll be filling the abbey cellarium with their music from 2-3pm. After their performances, wander through the ruins aglow and hear recorded carols echo through the air.
