All ready for
Our community is important to us here and we support local events and businesses in any and every way we can. is the most important fundraiser in the school’s calendar, raising £5000 to help pay for school trips, forest school and more as well as send a sizeable donation to our sister school in Malawi. Since we took over the business, Tipsy Cottages donates the fridges for the bar and food stall each year, as well as a prize for the raffle, and we volunteer our time at the event too. This year, we’re also donating the flowers for the dedicated flower crown stall. What a joy that our garden is now mature enough to casually pick two buckets of flowers on a Saturday morning! We’ve come a long way in three years!

I had today pegged as back to school for the child and back to productivity and posting for me but the Indian summer has other ideas and I ended up doing a LOT of laundry and a double changeover instead as the bookings pour in so here’s a pic from the weekend. Sweet peas are over but dahlia season is in full swing. I think picking flowers for my guests is one of my favourite things. We now have extremely limited availability for September so book now to avoid disappointment.

Finally made it to today - long on the list but managing a renovation and running a business makes one rather short of time. It didn’t disappoint. Just a 20-minute drive from our cottages, I can’t wait to go back (the cafe and plant nursery are worth a visit alone, let alone the stunning house and gardens).

Happy Sussex Day!
Two posts in one day? Who even am I? It’s hard to shoot the cottages at the moment as we’ve been booked solid but I managed to snap this shelfie in Goldings featuring our collection of wonderful Sussex guides during changeover today. All our cottages are stocked with multiple guidebooks and OS maps as well as a selection of novels written or set in Sussex, biographies of famous Sussex personalities and even some books and magazines produced by former guests (we regularly host authors and editors as this is the ideal writers retreat). For readers, there’s plenty of corners to curl up in with a good book too, of course!

Look what the taller half of Team Tipsy built today during changeover. Hop now has a gorgeous deck with Adirondack chairs so guests can sit among the blossom / wild flower meadow (depending on the season, of course). Hello! It’s been a while, we know. We’ve been busy getting the garden ready for spring (ready when you are, spring) hosting our wonderful guests and generally beavering away. All this, of course, has absolutely nothing to do with this image but as I was preparing Goldings for its next guests today, a ray of sunshine shone through the window and I couldn’t resist a snap. We have limited Easter availability so if you’re yet to make plans, get in touch!

A team Tipsy outing to THE place to visit in 2023 (Time Out). Eastbourne is a 40-ish min drive from our cottages. We thoroughly recommend a visit to , brunch at and a walk along the beach, of course. There’s also Pevensey Castle and Seven Sisters nearby.

I fell hard for this design and it has inspired the interiors of our new holiday let, Goldings Cottage. Today, I spent a good few hours grappling with plugs and wall lights to hang this gorgeous paper and I can report it was 💯 worth it. I’m so excited to show you more of this cottage as each area is finished and dressed. Watch this space.

It’s December and that means one thing at Tipsy Cottages; time to deck the halls! Although we’re only open at weekends while our third cottage is transformed, we’re still very much getting the cottages in the Christmas spirit with greenery and twinkly lights galore.

Captured on the school run after the soaking of my life earlier. This view never gets old. Hoping this week’s guests get to appreciate it in the sunshine soon-soon! In other news our website is sooooo nearly ready to launch. We’re a small business that works with other small businesses, which means things can take time, but it’ll be utterly worth it!

Last of the summer wine We love exploring our local area and seeking out gems that our guests will love and this is one of them. You could combine with a tour of the many fabulous vineyards in our local area for a truly Tipsy weekend -😉😉😉 see what we did there? 😉😉😉 - not to mention one of Robertsbridge Wine Club’s tastings: the next one is September 20th featuring and tickets are £10. Team Tipsy has been a man down for the last week and a half due to a knee injury. Doctors orders are to spend as much time walking in the water as possible, which is pretty handy given that we live so close to the sea and this stunning wild swimming spot and we’re in the middle of a heatwave. Cue a medicinal afternoon off.
