A few pictures from some recent work I did. I was working at a motorcycle travel event in Snowdonia and was asked to take a group of bikers up to Cadair Idris. Despite the weather, a few actually turned up for the day which was great!
There were hardly any views, it rained most of the route up and was a tad windy up top but, we all had a great time. 💪

I'm loving some of the flowers that are out at the moment. A couple from this morning's walk out in the Thames Estuary.

My next NNAS Bronze Navigator Award. There are currently two spaces still available for anyone interested in gaining an accredited qualification in map reading.
This course is perfect for people with little to no experience in map reading. After successful completion you will receive a certificate of achievement for the National Navigation Award Scheme.
We will meet on both days at Camer Park, North Kent.

The Bronze navigator award is a practical course that's aimed at people with little to no navigation experience. This is a two-day training package and on successful completion of the course, you will gain the Bronze level award from the National Navigation Award Scheme, the NNAS.
I was out over the weekend training on STANTA training area up around Thetford. I was there to deliver a navigation package for my regiment.
It's always good getting out off roading searching for suitable navigation points.

Up early this morning in the Army training area up near Thetford. Gorgeous conditions out and about and seeing the local wildlife. I always enjoy coming to this training area to work.

To be fair, he was a lovely chap and was heading down the mine to go Scuba diving with friends. Sod that!
Apparently it's 600 metres through this mine to the water that's around 46 metres deep. It was a proper cool experience to see inside this mine.
This was a very random encounter the other day. I met this guy by his vehicle and he was heading into a mine shaft to meet his friends who were diving inside the mine.
Apparently it's about 600m to the water and that has a depth of around 46m, he said. Now that's a crazy hobby to get into. It was cool having a look inside and a great experience while out on a walk in the Welsh hills. 🤙
A few landscape photos from Saturday's walk up Cnicht in North Wales. The views were non existent up top but on the way I was greeted occasionally to some stunning sights.
I headed up to North Wales this weekend for a quick visit and managed to get a day out in the hills yesterday. 💪

Last nights conditions were a bit sh*te at times. At this point I had just sent 46 soldiers out on their night navigation exercise. ‘If it ain’t raining, it ain’t training’ is the old saying. 😬

It was a great day today checking out another location for the map reading courses. It’s very close to the North Downs and comes with a lot of stunning views. I’m looking at running the NNAS Bronze and Silver awards from this location in the new year. Both are two-day courses that come with a recognised certificate on completion of the award. Evening all. I was down at the White Cliffs of Dover the other day having a walk around and I see this little natural navigation gift and thought I'd share some knowledge on it. Basically, the prevailing winds here in England and most of the UK come from the South West which means they're heading in a North East direction. Over time it causes tress and plants to grow differently which provides a handy bearing for us should we ever need it. Use caution with this though as some parts of the country will have differences due to the lay of the land, especially in the mountains where the local winds are forced to behave differently. However, this is a great tip to know in general.
