Great conditions yesterday for day two of the Bronze Navigator Award π
This was a very random encounter the other day. I met this guy by his vehicle and he was heading into a mine shaft to meet his friends who were diving inside the mine.
Apparently it's about 600m to the water and that has a depth of around 46m, he said. Now that's a crazy hobby to get into. It was cool having a look inside and a great experience while out on a walk in the Welsh hills. π€
Very peaceful this lunchtime out in the woods. Loving these sunny days. ππ
Last nights conditions were a bit sh*te at times. At this point I had just sent 46 soldiers out on their night navigation exercise.
βIf it ainβt raining, it ainβt trainingβ is the old saying. π¬
Lunchtime walk today. π
It was a great day today checking out another location for the map reading courses. Itβs very close to the North Downs and comes with a lot of stunning views.
Iβm looking at running the NNAS Bronze and Silver awards from this location in the new year. Both are two-day courses that come with a recognised certificate on completion of the award.
Stay tuned for course dates thatβll be out soon. I hope you had a great weekend! π€
It proper rained on us last night while out camping in the woods. It didnβt stop us having an enjoyable evening around the fire though. π
Getting set up around the fire before the storm set in. It was great to get out last night to have a fire and unwind.π
A stunning day hiking along the Cornish coastline. Happy days. π #Newquay #Cornwall #Hiking
Real happy to be out teaching a subject that Iβm very passionate about. Being able to map read is such a good skill to learn. #MapReading #Navigation #GetOutside #TheGreatOutdoors #AshDownForest
Everybody is constantly learning even if youβre not the person leading to the next check point. A solid day for these guys on a level 1 Navigation and Map Reading course. πͺ

Lunch In The Woods - Alfresco
A little video I made a while back now. Headed out into the woods for a bit of lunch over the fire. Just thought I'd share it here with you lot. π€
Natural Navigation Features Using the Prevailing Winds
Evening all.
I was down at the White Cliffs of Dover the other day having a walk around and I see this little natural navigation gift and thought I'd share some knowledge on it.
Basically, the prevailing winds here in England and most of the UK come from the South West which means they're heading in a North East direction. Over time it causes tress and plants to grow differently which provides a handy bearing for us should we ever need it.
Use caution with this though as some parts of the country will have differences due to the lay of the land, especially in the mountains where the local winds are forced to behave differently. However, this is a great tip to know in general.
