What a beautiful place to cool down
Rainforests like this temperate one here in the Forest of Dean are becoming increasingly rare. Once covering vast areas of the UK, they're now few and far between and vary across all of the home nations. As one of the most biodiverse habitats in the UK, they're home to a wealth of wildlife including Willow Warblers who return here for summer from southern Africa.
Temperate rainforests are known for their mild and damp conditions receiving over 200cm of annual rainfall. So come prepared - shady in the sunshine and sheltered in the rain - it's what keeps these lush mosses and fabulous ferns thriving. Come and explore!
