One thing we didn’t know before we arrived was the Copenhagen card! COPENHAGEN CARD is the official city card for Copenhagen.

We purchased ours in the hotel and it made the trip 100 times better! There are 2 options to suit your needs, but we had the one for unlimited travel with over 80 attractions included.. including free entry to the zoo and Tivoli gardens!!

Tivoli gardens 🥹

A piece of my heart lives here, it was the most stunning place and there was just something so utterly magical about this place 😍

Amager Beach Park is Copenhagen’s largest beach and is within biking distance from the city centre and easily reached with the metro.

Located just 5 km from the city centre, it is a perfect spot to spend the long Copenhagen summer days and bright evenings. All year round Amager Beach Park is location for different cultural and social events, and especially during summer it is a popular place for water sports like kayaking and windsurfing in the small lagoon. Here, you can get to learn windsurfing in beginner-friendly settings with Copenhagen Surf School.

The beach park offers a total of 4.6 km of beaches, forming a lagoon with toddlers' pools on one side, and a big sandy beach with dunes on the other. The southern part of the park has a broad promenade and areas for different ball games and picnicking. From the beach you have a spectacular view of a windmill park and the impressive Øresund Bridge, connecting Denmark and Sweden.

The little mermaid 🧜🏻‍♀️

Arguably one of Copenhagen's most iconic tourist attractions, the sculpture of The Little Mermaid was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s famous fairy tale.

We of course took a boat trip around Nyhavn canal to see lots of the sights, and we pulled up see this beauty!

I was surprised to discover just how small she was though… I expected something huge from all the stories I’d heard!

What’s her story? It was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s famous fairytale about a mermaid who gives up everything to be united with a young, handsome prince on land.

Every morning and evening she swims to the surface from the bottom of the sea and, perched on her rock in the water, she stares longingly towards the shore hoping to catch a glimpse of her beloved prince.

I won’t lie.. the entire trip to Denmark was all for a visit to the Roskilde Viking museum!! I booked a hotel right near Copenhagen airport and we travelled the majority of Denmark via train, metro and bus… we made the mistake of getting a taxi when we first arrived to get to the hotel and it was so overpriced! They also give pedestrians and cycles priority everywhere! So it’s much longer travelling by car!

So, let’s get into why I based a whole trip off one museum!

1000 years ago, the Vikings sailed along the shores of Europe, up rivers and across the open sea throughout the North Atlantic area. Ships are the essence of the Viking Age. With them, the Scandinavian countries were founded.

The Viking Ship Museum is built around the five original Viking ships from Skuldelev. They are part of a global story about ships, people and things on voyages.

The museum tells the story of how the Vikings changed the World with their ships.
Without ships, no Viking Age.

🏬 The Viking Ship Museum is open every day with activities, exciting stories and guided tours.

🚤 Everyday until 30 September you can experience what it was to be a Viking on board of one of the Viking Ship Museum's traditional Nordic boats.

🛥️ The museum displays both permanent and temporary exhibitions.

⛴️ The Viking Ship Museum offers a lot of exciting activities and experiences on land and water for the whole family.

🇩🇰 At the Museum Island, you can visit the Maritime Archaeologists' DocuLab. Here, archaeologists are working on documenting two remarkable shipwrecks.

🍔 Café Knarr is located on Museum Lake with a view of the beautiful wooden boats.

My name is Rebecca and I am a mum of 2 beautiful boys, both who have additional needs!

My eldest boy who is 9 has Autism, ADHD and dyspraxia along with GORD, asthma and fast transit. My youngest boy is 3 and has bilateral conductive hearing loss, speech delay, ODD (oppositional defiant disorder), chronic otitis media, glue ear, kidney reflux and is awaiting assessments for autism/ADHD…

I myself have a complete spinal fusion, chronic asthma, complex-PTSD, ADD and Crohn’s disease…
