Has Spring Sprung yet, it is hard to tell but the snowdrops have come and gone and the daffodils will soon be past their prime and the garden edges are filling up with primroses. Best of all though to show its Spring are the sheep in the field next door with their numerous lambs running raceing leaping and chasing each other without a care in the world.
Now amazingly we are coming into our 19th year, perhaps when we get to 20 we will start to get it all right! Like the old days of the Forth road bridge just as you get to the end of various repair/refurbishment projects more new ones come to light at the other end. As we have said each year “we are getting there” – but where is there??
It has been too long since I put out a Facebook update but somehow the acceleration of time seems more noticeable as we get older. Not that we have changed too much of course. Pictures below as of now and of times past and one my son took who swore it was my doppelganger!
We are looking forward to the proper start of our holiday season and thank & look forward to meeting up again with many of our loyal retuning guests who have already booked with us. Many new ones have also booked as well which is one of the best parts of this job meeting up with new guests and making new friends. The end of this damp & mizzly weather has to give way soon, doesn’t it? Time to look back to our photo library of sunny days in Dorset & White Horse Farm.
We will be here sadly without our welcoming cat Luna who succumbed to old age a couple of weeks ago, a big hole in our household but well remembered! Photo below; when in her full prime.
Finally, a picture of one of our most satisfied and cooled out past of guest's Rosie

All the best for 2034 to you all Stuart & Audrey XX!

I should be more inspired to write great prose with all the special pictures we have been sent recently. However, no such luck it just seems tooo hot all the time to think clearly– what an early summer we have had! Let’s hope there is more to come with a few late-night showers of course.

Anyway here we go. First, we have a few pictures of the BIG dog about Dorset, Nelson the Newfoundland(I believe) rescue dog, Followed by Poppy perhaps one of the smallest dogs, always full of beans. Then Tizzie the laid-back Greyhound. Following on there is Teasel the friendly Golden Retriever, so friendly he tried to make friends with a sheep! Next, we have the Corgis Lola & Lupin who came in jubilee week and were mobbed everywhere they went. Next up the odd couple Otto & Susie and finally we have the perfect pose from one of our favourite returner's, a Best-behaved Dog of prior years, Sam, the Collie at Durdle Dor. Before that we have 3 visitors to Sam's Mum & Dad who I had to have a picture of, "Pug Perfect".

Bookings have been pretty good this year, if perhaps more late bookings than prior years, but we still have some gaps coming up in late July and into August in our one bed properties.

Best wishes to those that have been and those yet to come to White Horse Farm. Stuart & Audrey.

What do you do on a wet & windy Friday, well I did promise a few more photos of our new celebrity rabbits? Mitch has never been happier and acts as if he were a young kit rabbit again. Hazel is certainly a handful and is always first to the food and will dash past you on a freedom attempt as you enter their run unless you are very careful.
I also attach some recent photos, one of a picture of perfect wildlife synergy as the squirrel raids the bird feeder and our resident pheasant Percy collects the displaced leftover seeds at the base. The picture definition is not great I am afraid but my attempts to get closer for a better photo spooked both of them. Another is of a photo I took in Sherborne just walking to the dentist, A white dove happily warming her rear end on a smoking chiming stack; I came back some 45 minutes later and it was still there! Not sure whether it was contentment, or she was cooked by that time.
Another picture of our cat Luna who despite her thyroid problem is now in pretty good shape. Not too happy though about a new black tailless cat in the neighbourhood, (Whisper) who is not only stealing out guests’ affections but also the local mice! We recently bought a couple of new tub chairs for the cottages and no sooner had I assembled the first one and turned round for the second when she jumped on and claimed it for her next throne!!!?
Finally, 2 pictures taken at Burton Bradstock after a lovely fresh fish & chip meal that shows the promise of warmer days to come.
Stay touch and hope to see you soon! Stuart & Audrey

Some really good news for a change.
The holiday season will soon be upon us and for our rabbit Mitch there is a welcome change from his lonely life after losing his best pal Olaf late last year. Mitch is now quite a senior old bunny so Audrey made great efforts to find him a companion of a suitable age. Well she more than met that and now Mitch has two buxom lady lop rabbits (who actually dwarf him somewhat) to keep him company. Yes he loves it and is a whole new character from his brooding self, not hardly moving in the corner of his hutch. They are Dandelion (the black one) and Hazel (you guessed it the hazel one) and to see them frolic around together is a joy. Perhaps the cutest picture though is of Mitch squeezed in between his two new lady bunnies, Hopefully better pictures to follow in due course; we know many of you have asked after him and also miss & loved to see our well loved white rabbit Olaf in his prime.
We getting everything ready for our new season and look forward to seeing many of you down the line. Stuart & Audrey ###

Back once more at the closing of our 2021 holiday let season. A good year all things considered as we stayed pretty busy throughout as the UK was encouraged to have staycations this year. The warm weather we enjoyed seems a long way away now as I sit here in what seems like sub zero temperatures despite the heating! Anyway some photos of the year again mainly doggie related but some others to remind you of the beauty of Dorset.

Picture 1 of Pippa revisiting her ancestral home is a very good one but my favourite is the last of our regular doggie visitor Ollie advising his human Gary what special he would like to order at the Hunters Moon next door.

Have a great Christmas if we don't get a chance to catch up before then.🤣 Stuart & Audrey

A Dorset Doggie Holiday tale in pictures

We always ask our guests for any good pictures they take on their holidays and particularly of their dogs (and sometimes other pets). This time we got a bumper crop and from a couple with an obvious good eye for a photo and a good camera too! So I can take no credit other that it shows what Dorset can offer and certainly these two dogs seemed to have very much enjoyed their Dorset breakaway!

“We have Millie (13 year old) and Daisy (9 month old) Gordon setters visiting Portland Bill , Durdle Door, Studland Bay (our favourite) and Lyme Regis. Millie hiding in the sand dunes . Daisy in the fields behind the farm - she loved the long, wet grass ! “ Sue

They also captured good portrait pictures of our rabbits Mitch & Olaf. I also have included one of our cat Luna which explains why our clematis never comes to much!

See many of you soon – Stay Safe, Stuart & Audrey

Well two weeks into our re-opened, post lockdown season and whilst with bookings to-date we foresee a very busy summer we still have a few gaps in May & June.
Good to get going again and our first week post lockdown on April 12 was busy as our guests took the chance of the 5/6 days left of the school’s Easter holidays to get away and see family, albeit suitably distanced outside! Fortunately, the weather whilst cool in the evenings was sunny during the day. One character who enjoyed it was our first candidate for “White Horse Farm Dog of the Year” Barney the golden retriever. seen attached enjoying Weymouth beach. He obviously enjoyed him himself very much as did his owners who despite us having (because of Covid-19 protocols) to remove all paper, questionnaire etc from the cottages managed to innovate and use our disposable cake box to confirm their enjoyment of their holiday & cottage!

Sad to say our chicken population has dwindled to 3. Not from any nasty event just old age catching up with them and they passed peacefully. We have plans to increase our flock soon now with the warmer weather and the avian flu restrictions have been lifted.

Luna the cat well known to many of our returning guests is well and is back to her fluffy, chubby self after last years worry of her thyroid deficiency which left her very lean, lethargic and scruffy until we found out what it was. Seen here ready for her audition for the next J K Rowling film!

Anyway, all the best to guests past and yet to come here’s hoping we have a catch-up good weather full season. Stay careful and safe!
Stuart & Audrey.

Well, here we are again getting ready for a slightly delayed season from the 12 April, albeit with precautions and procedures in place to keep within the “stay safe” guidelines and protocols of what we have to do to see this pandemic dwindle away.
We hope to see as many regular guests as can get away, and many new as well. Our calendars are open and already well booked in the summer. Looking at our local tourist information websites, Dorset is getting itself ready to open up as many attractions as and when they can.
Spring definitely seems to have “sprung, and we have had an extra flourishing carpet of snow drops, the daffodils are budding out a plenty and again the primroses are appearing to again looks like being a bumper showing.

We enclose a picture of our new guardians we have recruited to stand guard at the entrance to our cottages, some pictures of Spring emerging and an aerial reminder of White Horse Farm.

All our best wishes Stuart & Audrey
