Ronnie's Retreat - Sand Le Mere

I've debated whether to write a status about this issue but actually I really do think it needs to be said.

I am ONE person - I keep my prices as low as possible to try and help those who cannot afford expensive holidays be able to make family memories! I have some of the fondest memories of caravan holidays as a kid.

With this in mind - I am one of the cheapest privately owned rental vans on site, I have lots more than a lot of other caravans for people to use and enjoy during their stay - kids toys and games, sandwich toaster, slow cooker etc, I provide bedding and cleaning products, condiments, tea/coffee etc. Which I pay for out of my own pocket, in addition to the laundry products to wash bedding etc.

I clean the van myself - travelling a 2 hour round trip to do so - often several times a month (more in peak season)

I have increased my prices by around £5 per night in a 2 year period and only increase very slightly in the holidays (that's business I'm afraid)

I provide WiFi - free of charge to guests, I pay the water rates, gas etc. Believe it or not - I am NOT raking it in - I don't make a wage from this.

All around my full time work also - so please, please don't insult me by telling me others are cheaper and trying to guilt me into dropping my already low prices!
If that's the case - go and stay with them - but please remember when you're paying for WiFi or for bedding on the beds - all these little things add up!

I have raffled stays off at a low price for lucky winners to stay and I've donated the odd stay to charities or people I really feel need a little helping hand but cannot do this all the time - I don't cover my personal costs anyway so wouldn't make my business costs if I did!

Seeing so many amazing small businesses having to close because people are just not using them!
Makes me so sad! Use it or lose it! Bring back the high street and supporting small businesses!

I really don't like to be negative on here and hate to do this but again after people not respecting the rules I will be putting the prices up by £10 a night and will also be charging a £50 penalty for breaking the rules by bringing pets or smoking in the property!

It is absolutely soul destroying that I try so hard to provide families with affordable, enjoyable holidays by keeping my prices low and having lots of little extras like games, toys and other items to make people's stay that little bit more than your average caravan holiday for people to repeatedly disrespect me and the house rules!

Anyone who has already booked, I'll honour your prices, however going forward the prices will have gone up! Sorry to those who are respectful, however I feel I don't have much of a choice to cover my time, effort, fuel and cleaning products etc.

Unfortunately we have had further issues with guests not respecting our property!

I have always taken a real pride in ensuring that guests have plenty of home comforts and things to do during their stay and to come to the van to rubbish and food waste scattered around the floors, biro pen scribbles up the walls, broken items and just a clear disrespect for me and other people who stay at Ronnies is really disheartening!

As I have said before, Ronnie's was bought in memory of my dad who loved a staycation for others to be able to enjoy little breaks away for bargain prices!

I clean the van and manage my bookings around working a full time job so its not like I have a big company or workforce behind me to deal with things like this so I then lose valuable time with family and friends as I end up sorting the van out!

I will now only be taking bookings through air bnb unless for repeat guests who have respected me and my property and will be increasing deposit prices - I did not want it to come to this but I now feel that I have no other choice!

I would like to thank the people who have supported my little business and have stayed and taken care of Ronnie's - I really appreciate your custom and the fact that you have respected me and the property!

Ronnie's Retreat is my absolute pride and joy - I keep nightly rates as cheap as possible so that people can enjoy family staycations on a budget as after the last few years we all need a break! I provide toiletries, tea and coffee, cleaning products, bedding, toys, games and other bits and bobs to help make Ronnie's a real home from home!
The only thing I ask is that people respect the van and property and leave things as they find them - I work full time and clean the van on my own. I value my time off with my family and friends, so having my plans ruined because I have had to spend 4 and a half hours cleaning after guests, not to mention things going missing that I have left in the van to create a homely feel leaves a bad taste in my mouth!
I really don't want to start increasing deposits and rates but if people can't respect Ronnie's and the time and effort I put into giving people the best staycation experience possible I'm afraid I might have to consider this option!

£75 refundable deposit to secure your dates (refundable once caravan has been checked after your stay, 48hours maximum refund time - if you cancel your stay less than 48 hours before your selected dates, the deposit will not be refunded)
