MAURITIUS

🇲🇺Today's travel inspo is brought to you by Mauritius...

💎A little gem in the Indian Ocean known for its pure white-sand beaches, ludicrously warm seas and as a playground for those who enjoy things on the slightly more luxurious side of life.

🌴Away from the mega-resorts however, there’s a wonderful world of African & Indian inspired cuisine drifting from little shacks that make up sleepy fishing villages, excellent hiking in the forests and mountains of the interior, and world-class snorkelling and diving around the islets and reefs.

☀️The high season in Mauritius is generally early in the year, in every sense. Accommodation price, temperature, humidity, snorkelling visibility, all of this is high in the months of December through until February. We’d probably recommend visiting in the shoulder season (February to April or October to November), where temperatures are still extremely pleasant, there are fewer visitors, and the diving visibility is at its best. Of course, there’s always the slim chance of cyclones, but you’d be extremely unlucky to be caught in one.

GREEK GIRLS’ TRIP

It’s the weekenddd!!!! 🥳 Almost anyway, and I’m sooooo excited for our lovely customers on their long-awaited girls trip this weekend in the gorgeous Paleokastritsa in Corfu. 🇬🇷🏝💕

DISCONNECT TO RECONNECT

💫A quote with two meanings for me this morning… I’ve had just over a week off socials; completely unplanned but totally needed.

✨Running a busy little small business alongside full-time work was starting to take it’s toll and to avoid any sacrifices to the service to our customers, something had to give! I feel like it’s done me the world of good but I’m eager to get back sharing what we’re up to & what we can offer with the world.

💫We’ve still been super busy in the background with quotes & bookings which we’re forever super duper grateful for. Just this week we’ve booked three quirky Summer staycations & an amazing Mediterranean cruise, and we’re also working on a special itinerary for a first family holiday to Paris.

✨We also had a few days disconnecting in Rome last week, some of which we shared on our stories. We got totally immersed in our little city break; such a truly stunning & amazing place. We’ll share some more of our stay soon.

PICTURE PERFECT

📸 Don’t you agree? We have two lovely families landed in the super stunningly Carvoeiro yesterday & we're so happy that they absolutely love the holiday we hand-picked for them. For both families this is their first holiday as a family of four, and we're honoured to have planned and booked their trip.

🌺 Carvoeiro is a real get-away-from-it-all place starkly different to some of the more well known areas of the Algarve taking you to a one-time fishing village with a choice of sandy beaches and charming, old-style restaurants. Pretty white buildings are set into the cliff, along with a lighthouse and the remains of a 17th-century fort. Carvoeiro is also just a short ride away from the pretty river town of Silves; often known as the Algarve's prettiest town.

🌸 Our families are staying at the amazing Algar Seco Parque which is a small & quiet yet stunning traditional style resort set in the most spectacular location on the cliff tops. Each apartment & bungalow has views of the ocean views. The resort is right between the board walk to the village from which you can watch the sunset and the hiking path to the lighthouse. SO WHAT ACTUALLY ARE THE POST-BREXIT PASSPORT RULES THEN?

‼️ The Foreign Office has finally updated its advice to give clarity for travel to the EU. Due to the lack of clarity on the Foreign Office and Government websites, the post-Brexit rules have been misunderstood and mis-interpreted by airline and airport staff meaning people have been denied boarding.

⁉️ So, what are the rules?

1️⃣ Passports must be no more than 10 years old to enter the EU. Check the issue date of your passport to make sure it will be no more than 10 years old when you enter a country in the EU.

2️⃣ Passports must still be valid for at least three months after the date the traveller plans to leave the EU.

‼️ It is the second rule that has caused the most confusion. Until the recent update the Foreign Office was stating that for travel to some countries passports may need to be less than 10 years old for the whole of the visit, and that the three months left at the end must be within 10 years of the issue date. THIS WAS INCORRECT!!!

‼️ The two rules are separate from each other. So, to be clear, the issue date of the passport is only relevant for entry to the EU, the expiry date is what you need to check to work out if there will still be at least three months left at the end of a trip.

❕In addition to the above, you should still always check the specific entry requirements for your trip using the Foreign Office travel advice. Book with us, and we will do this for you and guide you through the specific requirements for your trip.

🤗 Sooo, for everyone new here, HELLO! We are Hannah & Josh of A Wonderful World based in Skipton, North Yorkshire. We have a shared love of travel and last Summer we began turning that passion into a small local business by training as Independent Travel Agents. Since then we've been honoured to plan & book lots of special & long-awaited holidays, near and far, for our lovely customers. We're extremely grateful for people placing trust in us to plan & book their trips. Our personalised service is what we pride ourselves on, and we care about every last detail of your trip.

Here are a few (possibly not so) fun things about us you may not already know if you are new here:

🤩 I (Hannah) travelled to Italy solo in my late teens and have also flown solo to Australia three times. I took languages and qualified to teach English as a second language abroad with every intention of moving abroad one day... my career path actually took me down the road of social care, but the dream still lives strong!

🤩 Josh is sports mad. He plays rugby for Skipton RFC & also dabbled at rugby league last season. I reckon he also spends approximately 20 hours a day checking BBC Sport for the latest results on ALL sports... slight exaggeration but you get my drift!

🏠 We run our little travel agency from our humble little home in Skipton with our little furry family; Django the red cockapoo, and Betty & Boo; two super spoilt kitties. 🐶🐱🐱

EVEN MORE TRAVEL UPDATES There’s more travel updates than storms at the moment & that’s saying something… our fence is hanging on by a thread I think! 💨💨💨 🌎 We only posted last week about travel updates but given there have been so many changes in the requirements for many of our popular holiday destinations in the last week coming into force ahead of Half Term, we felt obliged to share another one. 🤗Also featuring a shameless plug for using the services of A Wonderful World to plan and book your trip… as travel advisors it’s our job to keep up with the ever-changing rules and guidance which are unique to each country. OUR VALENTINES GETAWAY So we’ve been quiet on the old socials over the weekend as we sneaked in a (very) last minute mini valentines getaway. ❤️🥰. We didn’t go far as we were taking Django for the first time but it was a lovely bit of r&r and quality time nonetheless. We stayed at the super cute Skipbridge Farm on the outskirts of York. Just off the A59 it‘s really easy to get to but a real hidden gem at the same time! We stayed in Granary Cottage which is a really quaint & rustic little cottage with a hot tub. As you enter the courtyard off the main road it’s like entering a little wonderland. There are other cottages on the site as well as other really quirky accommodation options such as shepherd’s huts and glamming tipis. They also do weddings & events, have a petting farm complete with alpacas, ponies and resident peacock, and a licensed Hobbit Hole. AND the whole place is dog friendly too! 🐶 Anyway, I decided to practice my reels/video making skills with some highlights of our little trip; check it out! STAYCATIONS 🇬🇧 Staycations are set to be as popular this year as they were last. The new year is here and whilst travel restrictions are easing, we understand that many people want to avoid the complexities or still feel anxious about or unsafe travelling abroad. 🐶 We will definitely be taking more staycations this year, not necessarily due to Covid but for a few of our own personal reasons, including the addition of Django to the family. 🙌And a staycation really doesn’t have to be seen as a compromise. The UK has sooo much to offer… seaside stays, city breaks, holidays in nature, spa/wellness breaks; we’ve got it all on our doorstep. 🏕Glamping is predicted to be the most popular accommodation type this year alongside pods, domes, shepherd huts and cabins which all saw their popularity skyrocket last year, with trends set to continue. ⭐️Tipping most of the hit lists for the predicted most popular UK holiday destinations in 2022 are: Bideford, Devon Newquay, Cornwall Keswick, Lake District Whitby, North Yorkshire Brecon, Wales 🏖Possibly unsurprisingly, Devon, Cornwall and Wales also hit the Conde Nest editors' pick for some of the top UK beaches too. AMERICA IS BACK OPEN As of 8th November, the US Government has eased travel restrictions for fully vaccinated travellers. Children under 18 are exempt from the vaccination requirement. Fully vaccinated air passengers arriving to the US from a foreign country must get a COVID-19 test no more than 3 days before their flight departs. Within 3-5 days of arrival in the US, a further test is recommended.
