Lest We Forget

For the Fallen was written by Laurence Binyon while sitting on the cliff-top looking out to sea from Pentire Point on the dramatic north Cornish coastline.

The poem in full reads:

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England’s foam.

🐾 Had an amazing day at Newquay Zoo! 🦁 From watching the playful lemurs to spotting a sleeping lynx , every moment was a delight. The lush surroundings made for a perfect backdrop as we explored. 🌿

We even learned about conservation efforts and how we can help protect these incredible animals. If you’re looking for a fun day out, I highly recommend visiting! Can’t wait to go back! 🐒❤️

Dairyland is one of the very first family attractions that opened, and a fabulous day out. It will be a sad day when it closes for good.

It is with the deepest regret that we have to announce the closure of Dairyland Newquay.

Since Purchasing the park in 2019 the team have strived to make the park economically viable, and despite two record seasons in a row under new management, the challenges of Covid and the ongoing increase in operating costs have resulted in the park making a significant financial loss every year which we cannot continue to support.

We will find all of our animals’ new homes where they will be loved and treasured, as they have been at Dairyland .

The park will be open for one final week in October for Halloween, after which we will be closing the park for the last time at 5pm on Sunday 3rd November. During October the Bullpen will be open Friday (12pm-5pm) and Sat-Sun (10am-5pm), The park will close September 29th as we begin our Halloween Preparations
