It’s all about a bit of teamwork. Everyone working with/on your horse is all on the same side. Open communication between practitioners helps us all to help your horse 🙌
‼️YOU CAN'T TRAIN PAIN‼️
Over the course of my professional career I have encountered horses in all states of physical wellbeing.
I am not a medically or veterinary trained professional. However, I have a lot of experience in my own field and I can determine the difference between pain and brain based behaviour. Sometimes it's a mix of both and sometimes resolving the pain issue resolves the brain issue.
I am happy to work with any horse in any state of physical health providing that I'm fully informed of the situation so that I can ensure that any work is within the limits of what the horse is capable of.
I cannot diagnose physical issues however I can signpost you to the relevant professional if you don't have one already.
As an empathetic trainer I cannot in good conscience continue sessions with a horse if I suspect a physical issue may be present. This may mean that your sessions go on hold until the issue has been investigated.
I have experienced this on many occasions and I think on only 1 occasion was I wrong and there wasn't a physical issue, but I would much rather be wrong than left questioning.
I may request copies of body work reports, to speak to your bodyworker or confirmation from your vet that your horse is OK for sessions with me.
Open dialogue between practitioners I feel is very important to the welfare of the horse which I'm sure you'll all agree is top priority.
