The saver and saviour of syllables. That's how I will go down in history!
I suspect that I'm in for a knighthood, possibly a Baronhood, or at the very least a Lordship or something?
Why, I hear you ask?
I am pleased to announce that I have single-handedly saved the planet a lot of time and wasted energy.
Hands up if you have an Alexa device?
Do you have any idea of the colossal amount of time and energy wasted on saying that name in full? Well I am delighted to let you know that you can now achieve much more in your life, simply by dropping the cumbersome A!
Yes, folks, it’s true!
My extensive research has found that it takes more or less one second to utter that extra syllable. I use my Alexa device devices many times each day as I go from room to room, primarily using it for the radio and time checks to avoid the arduous task of getting my phone out of my pocket or tapping my Fitbit. It (she?) is also my calculator.
I would imagine that I use 'that word' around about 50 times a day. Now before I go any further I do realise I’m an addict and some of you may not use yours quite as much. Let’s say you only use it half that. Let’s do some maths...
25 seconds a day = 175 seconds a week.
Let’s round that down to 2.5 minutes a week.
That’s 130 minutes a year, so around 2 hours, roundong it down again.
The population of the UK is 68 million. About 3.5 million are under 5, so let’s say that leaves 64 million potential users. Let’s assume only 25% of us have this device.
That is 16 million people saving 2 hours a year. That is 32 million hours!
That is 800,000 working weeks at 40 hours per week.
And this is just the UK!
Simply by dropping that first syllable, I have saved Great Britain 800,000 working weeks! Every. Single. Year!
Even if we take away the amount of time I’ve taken to work it out, and the time it’s taken you to read this, we have ‘banked’ a ridiculous amount of working, achievement time!
