Kathie Phelps - Entrepreneur , Stratford Upon Avon, UK Old dog learning new tricks. Join me, lay yourself a better nest egg. Who else has been stung by the prospect of less pension than expected?

I got tired of seeing youngsters with no life experience making money from the Internet. I love learning, so I'm setting out to learn how to build a better nest egg for myself. I'm going to take an Internet Marketing course or three. Come along with me if you like the sound if it, even if it's just to laugh.

Well, I made a thing. I've made an Etsy store but only in USA so far as that's where the products are. I hope to open a UK / EU one soon because shipping from US is expensive. Unless you are in USA or Canada, obviously. It's been fun looking at Drop shippers and I'm doing Print On Demand, so that's fun too.

From what I've learned on my course, Affiliate Marketing offers an exceptionally straightforward way for people to make extra money and build a small business from home. It's not complicated, but you do need to know the right way. I've always looked for ways for people to help themselves and maintain as much independence as possible. I've worked with disabled people and seniors, aiming to maintain their skills or find ways to facilitate or fill in the gaps.
As I'm coming to retirement, I'd still like to travel and maintain a good quality if life. I'm sure there are plenty more like me.
I'm going to to restart Holidays With Access, not as a Travel Agency this time, but more of an advisory, and supporting services for people who have specific travel and tourism requirements. I can suggest good venues, equipment hire, alternative tours, and look for discounts or concessions.
Where I earned travel agents commissions as income previously, I can become an affiliate of various suppliers and earn affiliate commission for recommending them where they are appropriate to customers requirements.
Accessibility and disabled specific information is not always easy to find for mainstream travel companies but I have years of experience wading through the blurb and reading between the publicity.
I'm building my Holidays With Access blog at the moment so look out for more information on that.
If you or someone you know would also like to earn extra money from , see my website in my info for how to start, or drop me a message.

This looks useful for marketing planning this year. How else would you know about Random Act of Kindness Day? Or National Book Day if you don't have kids in School?
Apparently its a thing now, to dress up as favourite characters from books. I mourn the fact I'm too old to be Tiffany Aching from Terry Pratchett's Discworld Series. i could rock big boots and a frying pan.
Who would you like to do?

I stared out reading a free ebook called Avoiding the Pifalls, because I thought, well, at least I'll know what to avoid, right? That was a great start so I could see what I'd done wrong the last time I tried to start affiliate marketing for commissions 15 years ago, when it was really kicking off. The commissions were too small to build up to any income unless you already had a huge following or paid a fortune for an email list. Trouble is, those people signed up for a different reason than anything you wanted to offer and soon unsubscribed. I'm sure you've done it when you received a random, spurious, email just because you'd bought or viewed something else. This ebook showed me the change in the marketing world and pointed me to another free book which could be ordered as a real life, paper book. I like those. This next book was what introduced me to the training I got certificated for.

07/02/2023

Do you ever thing training will never end and when can I start? I'm there about now. I had a bad time ill, over Christmas, with subsequent brain fog. Its just clearing and I'm off again. What I do know is that if you want to make a living using the Internet, you do need to know some things and pay for a few things. However, if you get the right things you are set and need to just decide what your lane is, or your 'niche' as the saying is. There are pitfalls along the way but my training is showing me how to avoid them. Message me if interested to learn what I'm learning. I'm starting by writing out a list of things I am interested in, can talk about and where I think I could help others understand. Included in that, is showing other seniors or retired folk how to earn from the Internet. It's not all a young person's game any more.

I read the book, I went through the video promotion and I loved it!. This is going to show me how to be effective at affiliate marketing in the present climate. It includes all the information that was missing the last time I tried to do this and ended up paying google silly money for clicks. No more.
So many people have now got a taste for working from home and are not really enjoying or looking forward to the daily commute again. They , as I was, are looking for an internet business. I believe I have found the way through the maze with this.
More later, but I just did the preliminary training over a few days, in my own time and I am now a certified partner.
This is where I start to learn how to use the tools I need to promote other people's products for commission. Just like being a Travel Agent, done that, but with other really helpful, useful products.
You've seen the younger generation exploiting the internet to make a living, now its the seniors' turn.

10/09/2022

Well, my weekend reading is sorted out, I've got a book on what actually is and was and how affiliate Marketing devloped into the huge thing is is now. Looks like this could be the way for seniors to boost their income as pensions aren't great these days.

08/09/2022

Oh my days! There's a lot of information out there. Digital products, affiliate marketing, digital marketing, selling products online, and so on. So far I learned you need a company or product that has an affiliate programme, sign up, often for free, to get your coded affiliate link, that you can use to promote said product or company.
If you've ever looked at affiliate links, you'll know they look like ww.pjLxqadxaddthenumberyoufirstthoughtof dzxyokathie123/yvg.com.
Now that's no good to promote to your customers, is it? No. So you need a website with a snappy title? No, you don't, you just need a domain. Then you point your incomprehensible link to your snappy domain address. See, I'm learning.

07/09/2022

Can an old dog learn new tricks? Well it looks like we get older before we can retire now. I can't get my pension untiI 67. Now, I love to travel, seek out wildlife, and I love to do home crafts like knitting and crochet. As I love hand dyed and really good yarn this is going to be expensive. And as for travel, well, its never been cheap. Even if I get my camper van, have you seen the price of fuel?
So, if I'm going to be able to do the stuff I want to, and be comfortable, I'm going to need more funds than pension.
Now, I don't want to go on working as such so what can I do?
I am going to take a serious look at promoting other people's wares for commission. There's a whole industry out there devoted to it so I'm going to get me a bit.
As a trained scientist, this means I'm doing my research. There are so many trainers out there who promise to show you how it's done. They tend to be American and I'm not yet convinced all their methods translate to the British psyche. Let's see.
I'm no extrovert, I can't see myself making tik tok vids, or posing on Instagram. There must be room for introverts to make money off the Internet, right? Come with me and find out.

05/09/2022

OK, so I had a go at Internet marketing a few years ago and was totally boggled. It seemed full of people who didn't know anything, selling courses by other people who might know a bit.
However, over the last 10 years, lots of people seem to have cracked it.
You know if you buy or get given something really good you tell all your friends about it?
Now if those things came from Amazon or Etsy or a private creator, for instance, sometimes people will pay you commission for telling others about them.
Sounds good. I used to get commission for booking holidays for people. That's the norm. So, why not find other ways to earn commission? Right?
I know only the basics now, but I can use a computer and a smart phone so I'm learning.
I'm Iooking to feather my nest for retirement. I reckon this old dog can still learn new tricks.
