When your luggage is delayed and ends up in storage at an airport somewhere, the one thing of which you can be assured is your TRACE ME Smart ID will permanently identify you as the owner of your bag. If the paper tag applied on check-in has failed, and that is generally why your bag ends up in storage, once the baggage handlers process your bag we are informed of the Smart ID serial number and the location code of the bag by SITA WorldTracer themselves. We can then give you the information you need for your airline to return it to you.
We recently had a customer who travelled with two bags from Madrid to the UK. One bag arrived and the second bag was still missing after 11 days. We received a location report for the bag from SITA and we were able to give our customer it's location, still in Madrid.
This was his reply to us:
"Hi Sophie, had an email today saying our missing bag would be delivered to me this afternoon, many thanks for your help not sure the airline would have found it on their own! My wife will be very happy, it’s her bag with all her holiday clothes and bits and pieces." PR, Bristol UK.
