Fancy going on the largest cruise ship in the world? 🌍 🚢

Icon of the Seas is the largest cruise ship in the world, with a gross tonnage of 250,800 and measuring 1,196 feet in length.

It has a passenger capacity of 7,600 and accommodates 2,350 crew members. The ship features 20 decks, with 18 accessible to passengers.

The vessel includes a range of innovative amenities, such as the largest waterpark at sea called Thrill Island, which boasts six record-breaking waterslides.

There are seven pools on board, including the largest swim-up bar at sea, Swim & Tonic, and nine whirlpools.

The ship is divided into eight distinct neighborhoods, each offering unique experiences.

For dining, there are over 20 venues, and for entertainment, there are 15 live music venues and bars. Icon of the Seas is also environmentally advanced, powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), making it one of the most eco-friendly ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet.

If only flying was still like this!

This is a photo taken in 1950 on KLM and the now-defunct Trans World Airlines (TWA) had beds in both the upper and lower berths.

These beds featured mattresses, Pullman-style curtains for privacy, windows, reading lights, and even breakfast-in-bed service.

At the time, a round-trip economy airfare from New York to London on a Boeing 377 Stratocruiser cost about $580 (about $12,000 today) The baggage racks as we know them today were phased in during the late 1960s and early 1970s

So sad to hear about the devastating fires in Jasper, Canada 😢

𝐅𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫, 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚.

Unfortunately, the wildfires have caused significant damage within the area and as a result, future travel to Jasper for the remainder of 2024 will not be possible.

Huge, fast-moving wildfires have destroyed up to half of the historic Canadian town of Jasper, officials say, as firefighters try to save as many buildings as possible.

Entire streets have been levelled by the blazes in Alberta province, with video showing smouldering rubble where homes once stood.

Cooling temperatures brought some relief on Thursday, but park authorities said the fires were still out of control and further warm weather was forecast.

Meanwhile, there are hundreds of active blazes in neighbouring British Columbia, while fires are burning in western US states including California and Utah.

While no deaths have been reported, some 20,000 tourists and 5,000 residents have fled the mountainous area in Alberta province - a hugely popular tourist spot.
Some 36,000 hectares (89,000 acres) of land has so far been affected, Jasper National Park reported late on Thursday night local time - adding that neighbouring communities were not at risk.

It said that efforts to map the fires had been complicated by factors including strong winds, the extreme nature of the fire, and smoke.
