A huge Congratulations to Penlan Juniors as they land the Treble!

C&P Engineering Ltd sponsored Penlan Juniors in the AFC U12 Swansea district league during the 2022/23 season.

Looking splendid in their C&P Engineering Ltd kit. Penlan Juniors were undefeated in their first competitive season.

They went through the season with a record of P18 D1 L0 resulting in them running out the Swansea District Section A Champions.

There was a playoff against Section B winners Mumbles Rangers, where they triumphed 3-1.

To complete the treble, they went to home ground of Briton Ferry Football Club, where many a good player have graced the pitch, where during a pulsating game, they beat Morriston Town 4-2.

C&P’s Carl Gwyther, whose son Freddie plays for the team remarked “The boys have been together since playing under 5s mini football, by playing football together for so long, has resulted in a great team spirit and this is now the fruits of their labour”.

C&P Engineering Ltd wish Penlan Juniors all the best for 2023/24 campaign. Look out Manchester City!!

C&P Engineering are sponsoring Glyncollen Primary school via 2B Enterprising who work closely with primary school children across England and Wales.

Sue Poole the educating founder of 2B Enterprising recognised that to make a significant change to the entrepreneurial skills of our workforce, we need to work with them from a very early age.

The first visit took place in January 2023 at Glyncollen Primary school.

Rhiannon John Education Resources Officer from 2B Enterprising took the session along with Steve Davies from C&P Engineering who spoke to the children about C&P Engineering and the type of electrical work they are involved with.

The session included Rhiannon telling the children an interactive story about Bees and then asking them a number of questions how the Bees might sell their honey to make money and then buy other items with it.

The children were also asked to draw a business card and then present it to each other to learn how to greet each other in a business setting by shaking hands and speaking a little bit about themselves.

The class was superbly well behaved and fully embraced the programme. The children were extremely enthusiastic about the story, books and the hive of goodies that were given to each of them at the end of the session.

It’s proposed that C&P Engineering will attend three more meetings with 2B Enterprising and the primary school during the year.

C&P Engineering Ltd have donated £1000 to sponsor three Scouts from the Draig A***n Unit in Penllergaer Swansea to attend a Scout Jamboree in South Korea in August 2023.

C&P’s MD Paul Bunyan presented the Scouts with the donation to help fund the trip.

Paul has fond memories of being a member of Cubs, Scouts and being a member of a newly formed Venture Scout troop with other enthusiastic Scouts and Girl Guides at the time. As a 17 year old his Venture Scout troop attended a regional Jamboree in the Cotswolds, ‘a great experience and great memories’.

The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is held every four years and is attended by over 40,000 Scouts from all around the world. In 2023, it will be hosted by the Korean Scout Association at a new site in SaeManGeum, South Korea.

Aled, Branwen & Gruff applied to attend the Jamboree after being observed at a Selection Weekend and completing the application form and video, after going through the course the three of them found out they were successful!

Aled said ‘It’s incredible to be honest, as the three of us are Explorer Scouts with the Draig A***n Unit. We meet weekly at Silver Cross Scout Campsite, Penllergaer. We are a District Unit serving the community and surrounding areas’.

‘It was a difficult application process but we made it through it and we will now represent Wales on the World stage. We’ve been set a target of £4,000 each to raise and your kind donation has been an excellent boost’.

‘We have done all sorts of fundraising events including regular curry nights at Raduni, Gorseinon. We have a 100 Club where members pay in £5 per month and we do a monthly draw and give out two prizes. We are up to 64 members and its slowly growing’.

‘Our latest fundraising venture is making reindeers from fallen trees to sell at Christmas. We are keen to be sustainable and sell a products rather than having to rely on kind donations like yours’.

Explorer Scouts are aged between 14 and 17. There will be 72 youngsters from across Wales attending this event and these will form two units each with 36 Explorers.

C&P Engineering wish Aled, Branwen and Gruff all the very best on their South Korean Adventure.

2023 The World Scout Jamboree is organised by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)

Jo’s Story - ‘Well, I'm as chuffed as a Choo Choo train’!
Doing the CompEx Course has completely changed my life’!

When Jo initially applied to the C&P Training centre to do the CompEx Ex01 – Ex04 Gas & Vapours course she was working as a domestic electrician for several years and wanted to upgrade her skills & potential earnings by taking the industry recognised CompEx course which enables industrial electricians to work in potentially explosive areas.

Although the tutors were initially reluctant to let Jo take the course as she had limited industrial experience as a domestic electrician, she managed to persuade them that she had commercial experience she was determined to get the CompEx qualification to try & change her life & support her family.

When Jo arrived at the centre she met up with the C&P Training course tutors Dewi & Steve who helped, guided and supported her throughout the course.

Jo studied every evening after each day of the course to make sure she was fully prepared for the exams.

Jo received her results a week later from JTL & she was so thrilled to have passed the CompEx course that she wrote an email back to the course tutors to thank them.

This was an email that was received from Jo when she received her CompEx Ex01 – Ex04 results

‘Well, omg DEWI. I passed……..ME !!!??? Well, who has CompEx 01-04 …………….this girl here that’s who !!!!! Yesssssssssssss!!!!! Thank you soooooo freakin much for your fantastic tutoring :).
Jo (who as you may have guessed has passed her CompEx course !!). Whoop whoop !!!!!’
‘Well, I’m as chuffed as a Choo Choo train!! I cannot put into words how fantastic you and Steve were in your tutoring!! But my goodness you boys taught a domestic spark & I managed to pass the bloody CompEx course !! a million billion thanks to the both of you!‘

CompEx is the Gold standard in terms of qualification but once you have passed the course and you are on site, that’s when the learning really starts!

CompEx 01 – 04 changed my life, my career prospects, my earning potential and has enabled me to better myself and my Children’s lives that is what being a Mum is about setting an example and bringing up your children – they occasionally admit I’m a pretty cool mum for it too!

Over the years C&P Engineering has been actively involved in such schemes as Aspire2Be which encourages women to enter into the construction and manufacturing industries as electricians.

With only an estimated 1 to 3% of women being electricians in the UK there is an enormous potential for females to train and work within the industry.

Jo currently works as a CompEx Electrical Rope Access Technician on the Oil Rigs in the North Sea.

Please feel free to share and comment on Jo’s inspirational story to encourage others to get involved in the electrical industry.
