Garden maintenance weekend! We've been opening up the front aspect of the cottage clearing the beds and pruning the shrubs.... Loads more to do but we've made a noticeable difference..... Hopefully the garden will be even better this year!

So why you might ask am I standing on the roof of Haagwood???? Great question, and to be honest when I got up there I thought exactly the same thing..... Ladders and heights yuk!!!

But sometimes a holiday cottage owner has to go places others fear to tread. Today was that day... Thanks to one of the two named storms that battered the coast in the last few weeks or chimney cowl had bitten the dust

Replacement time

With thanks to the members of the village with longer more technical ladders than myself the job is done. I am in one piece and the chimney is fixed.....

Time for a brew to stop my legs shaking😂😂😂

So we reach a milestone here at Haagwood this week.... Monty the microwave has been with us from the beginning a true stalwart performer. Reliable and trusted to operate at maximum capacity he has been much appreciated, however there comes a time in every microwaves life where it's time to take things easy. Put ones plate out to pasture and relax. This is Monty's last week in operation. He's looking forward to a retirement travelling Borneo and the Pacific rim.

In other news Doris the dishwasher another permanent colleague sadly has had to go off on long term sick after a waterworks issue.... We will miss her and hope she recovers soon. She asked to step down as kitchen leader and chief dishwasher and has been replaced by Dagmar. Cut from the same cloth as Doris we hope Dagmar can fulfill her new role as admirably as Doris.... Get well soon and enjoy your semi retirement Doris... It's time to read all those books you've been buying!!

Summer draws to a close and autumn is firmly in control! The result? A beautiful spell of weather and there's nothing more peaceful than an early morning walk as the sun rises the birds sing and well..... That's about it.... *** NEWS FLASH ***

I have a confession..... About 6 weeks ago I bought an air fryer for the cottage. It's a ninja 10.6l flexidrawer for those of you who collect such information.... Anyway it arrived and I thought to myself that before I placed it in the cottage I'd better figure out how to use it and how to keep it clean....

That was six weeks ago and to be honest I've cooked with it about 5 times a week since to the point where I realised I would have to let it go and gave it over to its original intention.....

So today with a heavy heart I have installed it in Haagwood for your enjoyment and ease.....

I'm gutted...

So the building work is completed although you wouldn't really notice given that most of it is underground!

We are tidying up spreading new gravel and generally preparing for the second half of the season!

It's going to be a busy time as we are pretty much booked up to Christmas but have a look there may be a cheeky week here or there if you fancy a visit!

This has been a huge upgrade to our little cottage. It's an improvement we hope you don't notice but will make a big difference to the infrastructure of the cottage. We are very glad it's done.

So we are always trying to improve our visitors experience and this year is no different! Currently having a little digging done to benefit the environment with a new super clean super efficient sewage system put in. Not something you might think of when coming to visit but we wanted to ensure the surrounding environment is a green and clean as possible! The guys from lochgilphead are doing a fantastic job!
