Salvaged with style…
The desire to create a stylish bespoke kitchen, on a budget, whilst exposing original features, provided me with an exciting challenge!
These lovely clients possess a passion for recycling and repurposing, which was music to my ears. We managed to source a second hand, classic handmade kitchen for a fraction of the price of a new one. The units were hand-painted and reconfigured to fit their new home.
Layers of paper, flooring and masonry were removed to reveal the perfect original stone flag flooring, plus a stunning fireplace - which had been bricked up and covered with plasterboard.
Black painted ceiling beams were stripped back and enhanced with industrial vintage style lighting.
The kitchen had lacked any seating, so a reclaimed pew and a wrought iron pub table base created a cozy, bistro style corner. The table top was sympathetically cut with a curve to mirror that of the chunky wooden worktops.
A brand new rangemaster rustic ceramic sink was a very lucky find at £60 on eBay!
So, the finished result is warm and welcoming, which perfectly describes my wonderful clients.
And the old kitchen? It has found a new home and lives to see another day.
