Beginning in Lecce, known as ‘the Florence of the South’ due to its Baroque splendour, this leisurely exploration by train continues northwards to the circular hilltop town of Locorotondo in the Itria Valley. After exploring its labyrinthine alleyways, visit popular nearby Alberobello where some 1600 drystone trulli (circular houses topped with slate conical roofs) line narrow hillside streets. Journey onwards to the alluring coastal city of Trani with its famous castle, beautiful Duomo and bustling harbour front, before ending your journey in the enigma that is Matera. Wow what a trip! My favourite suppliers in Iceland flew back after our conference at the weekend to this amazing sight! If there are active volcanos, and it is safe to do so, I can arrange a helicopter trip just like this for you. During take off and landing you get a great glimpse of beautiful Reykjavik. A short flight to the site and then these amazing views. The pilot does a few circuits so that everyone onboard can get some great shots. Throughout the flight, the pilot gives you plenty of great information on the eruption. An out of this world experience. 40 minutes flying, worth every penny to witness the force of nature.
