Do you swim in the North Sea?! If you fancy braving it, I can recommend:
The ‘Lifeboat Beach’ In Anstruther, at high tide. (Pictured) The newly refurbished Cellardyke Pool aka ‘the Bathie.’ The Pittenweem tidal pool, at West Braes. The tidal pool at St Monans. I also like Cellardyke Harbour at high tide. Always swim with someone. The guide is, if the water is 10C, swim no longer than 10mins, it is at 14C at the moment, so max 14mins. Use a high vis tow float in open water. Enjoy! You will feel so invigorated for the rest of the day. Thank goodness Shore Cottage has two hot showers to warm up in!

Could this be Scotland’s smallest Gallery!? Guests staying at Shore Cottage, Anstruther can now buy Jilly Ballantyne, Artist little things, by scanning the QR code. We all dislike self checkouts, but this one is pretty cute.

and have teamed up and brought out some lovely new designs. When I saw the colour of this duvet set, I just had to get it for - I’ve just realised I have quite a few Scion Lohko patterns around the cottage, and the floral pattern, Kukkia. Lovely stuff!

This weekend I was reading about 'staycations' in the UK being less popular this year, so took a look at Pittenweem Properties- East Neuk Holiday Rentals website, to see how Shore Cottage is faring. There are still a few gaps here and there, but it looks like you are all still keen to come to the East Neuk of Fife! And the Sun has returned! Thank you.

A large delivery of calm just arrived at Shore Cottage! It’s going to smell like a spa in here next season!
(there’s also a 43” new TV just arrived, but that doesn’t really float my boat, I’m sure it will please some of my guests though!)

If you’ve stayed at Shore Cottage, you’ll know that there’s a strong colour theme in most of the rooms. The day I realised that I dress like my sofa, was quite amusing! (dark teal velvet, with a splash of dark orange) That started me thinking about what influences what, in my world. Some of you know that I’m an artist - Jilly Ballantyne, Artist - and I realise that recent paintings and ceramics also ‘match!’
If I suddenly decorate in greens and purples will my work and clothes also follow suit?!
Anyhoo, I’ve just read all the comments in the visitor book and I’m glad most of you love the house, thank you! See you next year!

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but Autumn is coming! I don’t mind at all because I love the East Neuk of Fife at this time of year. More chance of catching a sunrise and a sunset, like this one from last October. Shore Cottage has availability from 25th September and some weeks left in October too.

The Pittenweem Arts Festival 2023 is nearly upon us! Pittenweem will host over 100 artists in every imaginable venue. Jilly Ballantyne, Artist will be showing work with the Weem Gallery and Framer Look for them in the Festival brochure, Venue No9.
Parking and a shuttle bus makes for an easy visit.
Private View night is this Friday, the 4th Aug.
Then the Festival is open Saturday to Saturday from 10am every day.

Hello from me at Shore Cottage, I thought I should introduce myself!
I can’t take credit for maintaining the house as Pittenweem Properties- East Neuk Holiday Rentals do all of this, superbly well for me. I decorated the house and collected (or painted) the artwork. I run my own business Jilly Ballantyne, Artist and go collecting inspiration in the summer months. After the letting season I live in Shore Cottage and my family come and visit.
