We've been inspired by Chris McCausland's show "Wonders of the world I can't see" to create a list of Caithness and Sutherland experiences for the visually impaired you'll struggle to find elsewhere, should you want to share it with your loved ones:

Still an hour of light up here in Caithness, and all day tomorrow, to take part in the RSPB big garden birdwatch. Not only is it incredibly relaxing to just sit and watch the world go by for an hour, an excellent excuse for tea and cake, It's hugely important to use citizen science to collect data on our birds to allow us to target conservation by learning where and why they are in the most trouble, and most need of help. Seeing a bee eater up here, for example would tell us they are being badly affected by climate change and we may need to create or improve habitats for them where they don't currently exist.

Nature lovers amongst you might be sparing a thought for our puffins during storm Eowyn, floating out in the Atlantic. Don't worry we have received live up to date images of our Caithness puffins enjoying the storm driven waves
Their unique feather structure works like a dry suit, insulating them from the coldest conditions, while particularly sensitive sun loving puffins like our famous Penelope may choose to spend their winters on the Mediterranean. Don't worry about them guys, the ones out there are thrill seekers and they're sure to be getting their kicks this weekend!

Caithness really is the gift that keeps on giving - two white tailed sea eagles can currently be spotted over Loch Stemster after northern lights last night, and killer whales yesterday.
