Welcome to Northborough Manor, also known as Nothborough Castle, a fortified manor house situated on the Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire border. It is a rare and exquisite example of domestic Medieval architecture. The Gatehouse is a separate building which stands opposite the Manor. It was built in the 17th Century by the Claypole family, and used by Oliver Cromwell as a garrison during the Civil

War. It has recently been restored, and comprises four bedrooms with excellent facilities. Available for hire, this unique and extraordinary house is an ideal base to explore the local countryside, immerse yourself in its history, and entertain your family and friends. Visitors to Northborough are always incredibly welcome, however, the house is privately owned, and visits must be made by appointment in advance. And so it begins. It’s been a tough few months for us at the Manor. Unknown structural interferences made by former custodians have meant the er****on of 60 tonnes of scaffolding to support the roof of the Great Hall, which is now in urgent need of restoration. Fortunately, we have the most amazing team in place to help us in our hour of need, including world-leading architects, engineers, advisors and historians. A huge thank you to all of you, we are so grateful for your help and expert advice

It’s going to be incredibly demanding over the next couple of years. We will keep you posted each step of the way as Northborough Manor begins a new chapter of restoration.

Jam and Jerusalem! Tonight we had the privilege of welcome the Northborough W.I. to the house for a picnic. Unfortunately the weather was against us, so we rallied into the Great Hall with only slightly soggy plates! We talked about the history of the house and had a singsong that included a rousing rendition of Jerusalem. Thank you for coming ladies, and a special thank you to the one and only Tracy Thomas without whom the village would not run.
