Is spring here ? 🌼

Today feels like it could be a turning point 🤞

Hasn’t been much opportunity for grass cutting with the wet weather but it’s looking so pretty with all the wild flowers in bloom.

It’s no secret 🤫 …

…this year’s been a little wet - and very different from the previous year.

But now the weather’s a little colder we are getting some beautiful blue skies and sunny days which combined with the browns, oranges and yellows of the season, look pretty spectacular 🤩

There’s also such a feeling of peace as the surroundings start to wind down for winter.

I think autumn might be my favourite season at Waundwrgi 🍁

Look at that glistening water 🏖️

The (school) holidays may be over but the summer is having a resurgence 😎

Where better to enjoy the sunshine than here in Pembrokeshire, with all its beautiful beaches 🤩

This photo was taken on the weekend at Coppet Hall beach, Saundersfoot - a great spot if you like convenience because it’s got:

✔️ parking right next to the beach (which takes card payments too)
✔️ cafe
✔️ toilets
✔️ beach shop
✔️ ice cream van often on the beach
✔️ SUP school and equipment hire (we hired a kayak and wetsuits last week 👍)
✔️ and even a fancy restaurant

All right next to the beach.

Less than 30 mins away from ⏰

We have had some truly wonderful entries over the summer, despite some un-predictable weather 😕

It’s the best feeling when we get to read that our guests have felt special while staying at The Barn, that they have found the beds ‘amazing’ and furnishings and amenities of ‘excellent’ quality and most importantly that they’d recommend to family and friends.

Fruit 🍎 🍐

We have a few fruit trees dotted about the place - pears, apples, plums, cooking apples, figs - as well as plenty of blackberries throughout the woodland.

If you stay with us and come across some of this delicious fresh fruit- please help yourself!

Pembrokeshire: 2nd best holiday destination to take your dog in the whole of the UK!

We accept 2 dogs 🐶 at The Barn where there are plenty of walks for your furry friends right on the doorstep. Woof!

If anyone’s planning a summer holiday this year with their dog, then they’re best bet is stay firmly ensconced in Pembrokeshire.

Pendine Sands 🏝️

Home of the land speed record - and the so-called museum - at a whopping 7 miles long 🤩

It takes just over 20 mins from and as well as plenty of space on the beach there are eateries and ice cream parlours so no problem if you forget your picnic.

The sea was very pleasant today 🏊‍♀️ - perhaps because the shallows go on and on 🌊 Of course, it helped that it was a scorcher ☀️

Ok, it wasn’t always on a Friday when we used to do this but now it’s going to be 😄

Friday is changeover day and as the season gets going it makes sense to bring some of the lovely comments we get in the book from the paper page to our social media pages 👀

There is nothing we like better than opening the book and seeing a little message inside - it truly makes our week! They often mention brilliant days out in Pembrokeshire and local businesses, so we think it’s great to share the love for what this beautiful county has to offer with our community.

Walking into the weekend like 🥾

We leave a few pairs of wellies in The Barn incase anybody needs them. The weather has been glorious these past few days - but there are definitely still some soggy patches through the woods. Let’s go!

Fabulous Freshwater East beach last week.

Doesn’t it look stunning in the sunshine? It was calm and peaceful - perfect for a tranquil walk, a cold water dip 🏊‍♀️ and sitting on the rocks enjoying the warmth of the sun with a flask of tea ☕️. Does January get better than this?

The frost is back❄️ and doesn’t it look beautiful 🤩

As you can see, our feathered friend made an appearance (sadly no pheasant emoji). We’ve been seeing a cormorant here most mornings lately too and had a glimpse or 2 of the canada geese. Still lots of mallards of course, but they’re having to share their space a little.

Our Christmas guests mentioned they enjoyed the sound of the ducks in the morning, so if that’s your thing, this is the place to be! I’ll post that full review soon but in the meantime - enjoy the view🌅

And that’s 2022! We had our first guests stay at The Barn this time last year, so as well as seeing in the new year we are celebrating a year in business - and it’s been a great start for us. A big thanks to everyone for your support 🙏

What a week!

🌳The hedges have had a serious hair cut ahead of the winter and as the weather has (finally) started to turn colder we have been losing a lot more leaves - so things are looking a little different around here. A very neat job done I must say 👍

🏊‍♂️Yes, temperatures are dipping and November is beginning to actually feel like November. Speaking of dipping - wild pond dipping anyone? That’s exactly what was happening today ! A little chilly by all accounts but doesn’t it look lovely?!

📸Also this week I had some beautiful photos sent to me from a guest we had over half term which I will pop on here shortly (thanks again!), so keep eyes peeled for those.

🖤oh, and - did someone say Black Friday ? 👀 - stay tuned.

The sea looked so inviting today at despite the showers. The tide was in but there was enough sand to walk along.

Just 25 mins from us it’s a lovely spot - lots of places to eat, drink and shop right by the beach, with ice-cream parlour aplenty 🍦

Today we had a lovely lunch .saundersfoot - fab food and service.
