Hi everyone! I thought id give a quick update as my page looks like its been totally abandoned....
Im pregnant! (eeeeeeep) the first few months were really rough so I cancelled a lot of work and I am now in the really lucky position of being able to take some time off to finish growing the baby and then look after the baby and work out how life looks after its arrival. Mountain rescue 2025...2026?!?
Im planning on getting back to teaching in 2025 and until then will be learning about trekking and being outdoors with a teeny tiny person- I cant wait!!!!! Im still available via email for enquiries or to recommend other outdoor first aid trainers or mountain leaders.

Fab job with a wonderful organisation :-) Stomping Grounds Forest School North East

We're recruiting!

Our specialist work is expanding and we're looking for therapeutic, creative, neuro-affirming practitioners to join our Therapeutic Forest School team.

Our work is a mixture of 1-1 and small group work, usually from our woodland in Prudhoe but sometimes in other outdoor locations across the North East.

We are looking for Level 3 Forest School practitioners, Outdoor Learning practitioners and those with experience of working inclusively with children and young people who are struggling to access mainstream education due to unmet SEN or SEMH needs.

Ad Hoc lead and support roles currently available. We have roles for those who already have their Forest School leadership training, and those who might be interested in working towards it.

What I’ve been up to with my weekend. Anyone fancying some winter fun I cannot recommend Hayley enough. I’ve laughed loads, learnt even more and came away having the best weekend full of confidence and excitement to spend more time in the snow!

Hi all. Ive been full of busy working at festivals and events this summer so far but cant wait to get back to some outdoor adventures and first aid training. I have a hill skills test day for mountain rescue coming up (wish me luck!) followed by a trip to Iceland then two more festivals to go then back into first aid training!!!!!

This sounds brilliant- still two places available :-D

Two tickets have become available for the next Wild Food Foraging Walk, the first of the Summer sessions and a previously sold out event.

It is taking place on Saturday May 14th, right in the centre of Cramlington around the Seven Oaks and Doddington Wood area of town. If you have only ever thought of foraging as a countryside activity, then come along and discover the abundance of seasonal food growing on your doorstep! Last weekend we looked at over 15 different wild and edible plants growing in another urban park - 15!

We have a series of 6 workshops coming up over June, July and August all about sustainable gardening. If you're interested in growing plants in ways that have more positive benefits for the planet, supports local insect life and fights climate change then this could be for you! No experience needed but also well seasoned gardeners are welcome. All workshops take place at Sandown Allotments in Bensham, last 3 hours on a monday afternoon and are free! All welcome!

This weekend I've been teaching Outdoor/paediatric First aid.

It was a great weekend delivering first aid for a wonderful group of hilarious women.
We've has wild rabbits attack, electric scooter pile ups, hot athletes and all sorts. Here's a couple of funny moments captured.

Kinder in Colour are hoping to create one of the largest countryside gatherings of People of Colour in English history! The walk in Edale in the Peak District will start at 14:00 and end at 19:00/19:30 - food and refreshments will be provided, and those that are fasting will get food to takeaway.
We are reaching out to BPOC groups across the country and want as many People of Colour as possible to come on the day.
This event is led by BPOC groups and centres their needs and contributions. Non-BPOC allies are of course welcome to attend in solidarity too. We are arranging a coach from Newcastle upon Tyne. Do you know anyone that would be interested?

Happy Christmas 🎄 💓 January is on the way! Has anyone got any good goals for the new year? A mountain adventure to plan? First aid to learn? Map reading to master?
Il be listing my upcoming courses tomorrow.
Myself and Martha were suposed to be in Thailand right now, unfortunately we are all covidy stuck at home so I'm having to have a good think about my January and February plans. I've been sulking for the last couple of days but tomorrow is pull my socks up day and get excited about a very different January. Snow? Scotland?

Scotswood gardens are wonderful, if you can donate any amount no matter how small to help them reach their funding target that would be amazing :-)

To buy a recycled commercial training kitchen and fit into a newly built community eco building. The kitchen will provide volunteering and training opportunities for young people and adults.

Wow 4 years ago! Take me back to Nepal. Who has a 2022 adventure in the pipeline????

Full team made base camp. All back in pheriche now relaxing in the wonderful edelweiss lodge. Luxury well earned! Super proud of everyone we have all suffered one way or the other! Three days walking to get back to Lukla then shower and gin time!

I love this!

The amount of times I've been guiding someone and you can see they're suffering a bit and I've just plainly said..

'have you ever heard of type 2 fun?' 😅

Our mind has a natural handbrake called the 'Central Govenor' and it is often this that comes into play when things get tough, trying to tell you to stop and not put yourself through any more misery. But we've all been there when you finally get to the top, finish that run or conquer that hilly Road on your bike where you feel over the moon. That is type 2 fun.

Things are looking up.
My sinus procedure is booked for September and I cannot wait to get back to full health and adventuring again :-D :-D
