D-Day. Information was key. Bletchley Park helped the eyes and ears. Not everyone dodged bullets. But they played a part in ensuring that those that had to had the best odds of survival. However slim that margin was. Every yard was gained the hard way. So it is amazing to acknowledge that it was a collective determination to succeed which won the day. And built the foundations for peace. Humanity can prevail. Peace can prevail. If we truly and collectively never forget and utilise the spirit shown this day 80 years ago.

Lest we forget the sacrifice of others. Our own issues pale in comparison to the sacrifices made on D-Day. Many did not return. Freedom is hard won. The fact that we have time to reflect tells us all what we need to know about taking that for granted.

Steam. Old technology. Dirty. But I didnāt see any plastic. Not one bit. And there was a man who was engaged in a complex seemingly clockwork giant contraption which lumbered about like a metal dinosaur. It was slow. Mesmeric too. No rare earth minerals either. Confusing this sustainability stuff sometimes.

So subtle in the landscape. Reminded me of the long journey I took in 1991 on a long winding dusty track from Arusha to Ngorongoro Crater. Series One didnāt miss a beat that very long day. It was not convenient or comfortable at all. But it was magical. I can smell it. Adventure is not easy. Itās immersive in a difficult way. It demands respect and your full attention. And it helps you to grow. See you out thereā¦.

Aubergine or eggplant ? Who caresā¦the language of the joy of travel is universal. A smile trumps anything a word can convey. Differences disappear and the everyday moments like shared food by the wayside create a universal communication and harmony without a word spoken. I think itās called humanity. Perhaps we should practice.

Sometimes. Barriers create walkways over difficult ground. They look beautiful too. We just have to look at them differently.

I think God should have done a bit more than put a sign upā¦.he/she/they/it are going to be mighty pi**ed off when they get backā¦ā¦š¬š¤£š¬ We better get tidying up

London atmosphere. History you can cut with a knife. Ghosts of Christmas past huddle together. Itās so vibrantly alive even when everything is still. Silent night.

I love the countryside. But sometimes youāve just got to do London. Anglo-angularity in all itās human ingenuity and madness. Thankfully in London you can find a green space in the shadow of a wall of glass.

Great day of first aid training with sometimes it pays to be prepared for the āwhat ifsā in life. Great insurance policy to have.

One of these explorers is fourteen tomorrow. I canāt believe it. He was just tiny once. I canāt wait to explore more with him and them.

Useful days. Great to talk to so many likeminded people. Sustainability is now a real conversation and a real focus. Letās hope the balance can be achieved between increased visitor numbers and the conservation of our incredible planet.

Travel. Broadens the mind. You look at the world from a different perspective. It sometimes makes sense. Sometimes not so much. We see life in all its randomness. Itās condensed wisdom. And craziness. But we always learn. Especially when we fall flat on our face. Life is just a gamble. Itās nuts. Enjoy the weekend.

Just writing my report on my recent Azores trip. Must give a massive thank you to the Fire and Rescue services in Madelena who looked after us so kindly during a recent storm. Even taking me back out into it to retrieve a passport. Above and beyond. Massive thanks.

I donāt usually post private things. But I just wanted to share the joy that these two boys bring into my world. They are beyond immeasurable in the company they bring. They are polite, articulate, funny, unfailingly kind and care deeply about this world and I would walk through fire and flood for them.

Wonderful to see that out and about as we travel in the everyday there are reminders to take care of our world. Simple solutions. Every day. Big change. Every day is a learning dayā¦
