Y Sied is a pretty stone cottage, on the outskirts of Newport, just a 10 minute down hill walk to its bustling streets and range of facilities. Nestled next door to the owner’s house, it has been lovingly converted from an original stone barn with traditional Pembrokeshire roof to provide charming and characterful accommodation with slate floors and oak A-frame beams.
Step into the open plan sitting/dining/bedroom comfortably furnished in soft natural tones reflecting the colours of the mountains. One step leads up to the beautifully fitted kitchen with breakfast bar and quality wet room. The French door opens to your own enclosed paved terrace where you can dine alfresco on a summer’s evening.
Ideal for keen walkers, the area is criss-crossed with footpaths, one across the road leads up onto the common, to Carn Ingli (mountain of angels), and the Preseli hills, the views that await are well worth the climb and the area abounds in birds and wildlife. Alternatively, take a path across country to the charming village of Nevern with its Norman Church and popular village pub all set on the banks of the River Nevern. You will appreciate just how close the sea is with the views across the coast from the lane just below the cottage.
There is a choice of pubs, shops and restaurants as well as a popular farmers’ market to try in Newport, just a short walk away, head down to the Parrog to spend days on the beach or exploring the Nevern estuary. The area has a strong maritime history and many local events held throughout the year centre on the water. Join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to explore this stunning coastline taking in a number of picturesque coves and beaches including Aberfforest, Cwm Yr Eglwys and Pwllgwaelod, you can always take advantage of the Poppit Rocket bus to catch a lift back. Keen golfers will also enjoy the course with its on site restaurant and cafe in Newport Sands where the views are breathtaking over the beach and out to sea.
