Enjoyed getting the opportunity to take a few more photos this weekend at the house. This is a perfect space on the top floor of the house in the bigger bed room for our guests to get a spot of work done. As it's on the top floor you can close the door and the rest of the family can be downstairs without causing distraction.

The elegant and stunning Almshouse located in the historic Abbey town of Sherborne is one of many local and very picturesque historical buildings in the area. Some history on what is now a beautiful residential home - The original Almshouse of S. John The Baptist and S. John The Evangelist is the best surviving example of a medieval Almshouse in Wessex. Its Foundation Deed is dated 10th January 1437 and provided for ‘Twelve pore feeble and ympotent old men and four old women’ to be cared for by a housewife whose duty was to ‘feeche in and dyght to the victaill wash wrying make beddys and al other things do’.

Shower dodging today through the village and had to share the houses on The Borough. So picture perfect and the quintessential English village with its local ham stone houses, wisteria covered fronts and local community pubs. I always enjoy a stroll through Montecute.

If you are staying with us in Montecute I would always recommend a visit to the local town of Sherborne. A beautiful historic Abbey Town with a multitude of independent shops and cafes. One of which is Olivers , a quirky cafe with good food and good coffee and the best bit is its dog friendly! Plenty of Availablity left for May as well as one space left for next week. Abbey Cottage is set in the beautiful village of Montecute, a must visit for anyone looking for an escape from a busy city life or just some down time. The village itself is picturesque with almost all of the homes, shops and pubs being built from the local hamstone. Dating back to the 15th century it really does feel as if you are stepping back in time. Such a beautiful day today. The weather was wonderful after the rain of yesterday. Just down the road from the house is Yeovil Country Park or "ninesprings" such a beautiful place to walk amongst the trees, lakes and springs and as you can hear full of wild life! Not to mention that green on the other side of the bank is the golf club if you are a keen golfer.
