“I had never thought of visiting the east coast of Britain, but this trip turned out to be wonderful! The scenery was gorgeous, I loved the hiking and bird watching, the pace was perfect, and each town we visited was like something out of a movie. I would visit any of the locations again!”

There is nothing like a wildlife trip to take you into the heart of nature, reconnecting with the beauty of the world around you while witnessing the natural world at play.

What will you discover in the UK?

This review is from our Wildlife – Wild Isles trip, which explores the east coast of northern England and Scotland, including a visit to St Abb’s Head. The harbour here stood in for New Asgard in Marvel’s Avengers films, as demonstrated by our guide, Rob. “Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher.” – William Wordsworth

The English countryside is a patchwork of beauty, from the wild moors of Northumberland to the quiet charm of the South Downs.

As spring unfolds, woodlands are carpeted with bluebells, lambs graze in sunlit meadows and rivers reflect the shifting skies. It is a landscape made for walking, wandering and breathing deeply.

Where is your favourite countryside escape?

The UK is packed with incredible landscapes, and here are a few facts that might surprise you.

Did you know the UK coastline stretches over 7,700 miles? That’s longer than the distance from London to Los Angeles. With more than 140,000 miles of public footpaths in England and Wales, you could walk around the Earth nearly six times without retracing your steps. And if you prefer two wheels to two feet, the National Cycle Network has over 12,000 miles of routes to explore.

From coastal trails to rolling countryside, our trips take you into the heart of these landscapes, offering the perfect balance of adventure and discovery.

Is gravel biking the best of both worlds?

Not quite road cycling, not quite mountain biking, gravel riding blends the speed of one with the freedom of the other.

It’s certainly a choose-your-own-adventure sport! Some routes are smooth and flowing, and others are bumpy and wild. Whether you love a scenic cruise or a technical challenge, gravel lets you pick your path. The UK is one of the best places in the world for gravel biking, thanks to its vast network of bridleways, forest tracks and quiet country lanes.

Better still, gravel biking isn’t all about speed. The bikes are built to go almost anywhere, so expect epic scenery, hidden trails and a little mud along the way. Gravel rides are often about enjoying the moment, chatting with fellow riders, stopping to enjoy the views and embracing the adventure.

So, is gravel biking the best of both worlds?

Our first Winter Cotswolds walking trip was an absolute delight!

The trip was five days of picture-perfect frosty mornings, rolling countryside, and, of course, plenty of good old-fashioned muddy adventures along the way.

The group embraced every moment, from cosy pubs to peaceful riverside trails, proving that winter walking is as magical as any other season. And, judging by the state of these boots, they made the most of it!

Gravel biking is taking over the cycling world—but what exactly is it?

Think of it as the perfect blend of road and mountain biking. You get the freedom to explore off the beaten path without needing technical mountain bike skills.

How is it different?
🔍 Compared to road cycling, gravel biking means no traffic and more adventure, with the freedom to head away from paved roads.
🔍 Compared to mountain bike routes, gravel trails can be rough but not as extreme, making them perfect for longer rides.

Where can you ride?
✔️ Forest tracks
✔️ Coastal paths
✔️ Quiet country lanes

Gravel biking is about the joy of exploring and reaching wild places you’d never find on another bike.

Did you know? Some of our trips have a lower daily carbon footprint than staying at home.

That’s because:
✔️ Small group travel = shared transport in vehicles chosen for their comfort and carbon footprint.
✔️ Local stays in boutique accommodation = supporting communities and connecting with locals.
✔️ Seasonal food = delicious locally sourced menu options, which means your food is fresher and has travelled less.

And the bonus? Less logistics, more fresh air. Less routine, more adventure.
