ROSE
Couldn’t help but notice the gorgeous scented rose on this Cobbs Well garden wall by The Safe Harbour.
With the sun shining, flowers in bloom it finally feels that after months of rain, summer is finally here - hooray!

HAPPY PLACE
This view down Daglands Hill just makes me smile, even at the end of a long day. I know that at the bottom just on the corner is and I will be rewarded with my pick of either harbour view or church view from the snuggler chair in the bay window.

WHITEHOUSE BEACH
Shhhh - don’t tell anyone but this tiny beach, covered at high tide, is only 5 minutes walk from and the centre of town. It’s where I go when the house is full of teens and I just need a moments peace with the sight and the sound of the waves.
It’s just round the corner from Whitehouse Quay where in the summer months the Meva Ferry and 9.45 - 5.15 the Polruan Ferry lands (Town Quay outside of those hours) both depart from.
Thanks to a community led project the tidal paddling pool should soon be ready.
Even better is on the way home!

As you can see, the name says it all!
is just 5 minutes from the centre of fabulous Fowey with its myriad of independent shops, galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants, water sports and walks.
It’s a 15 minute stroll down the Esplanade to Readymoney Beach for a sheltered swim or sandcastles and then on up to St Catherine’s Castle for wonderful views up river or across St Austell Bay.

ST CATHERINE’S PARADE
One of my favourite ways to reach one of my favourite places.
I love the 15 minute walk from down the Esplanade to Readymoney Beach, but you can also park up at the Readymoney Car Park and walk down St Catherine’s Parade to the beach - and what a view!
Even better is picking up a coffe, cake or ice cream from the wonderful to enjoy whilst you watch the waves.

HARBOUR VIEW
There’s nothing better than waking to the view from the top bedroom - even if it’s to snuggle back into bed!
This room has been my sanctuary during our renovation works - nadir was when it was 4degrees inside and out and no heating!
Now the kitchen is in, and the refashioned garden, new balcony and new downstairs loo almost complete, can’t wait to start welcoming guests back. We still have availability for the weeks of July 5th, July 19th and August 9th. Only 5 mins stroll into the heart of Fowey and 15 minutes walk to Readymoney Beach sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms. CHURCH VIEW
is named for it’s wonderful view over the harbour across to Polruan - but it could equally be known as Church View. This is the glorious view from the front door down Long Steps to St Fimbarrus Church.
@ is just a 5 minute stroll away from the Church and the centre of Fowey with all its fabulous independent shops and galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants as well as a myriad of water sports; and only a 15 minute walk from Readymoney Beach.

PINTXO
Excitingly, the new kitchen has just gone in to but it’s not all connected up yet. So I popped into the fabulous on the Esplanade and enjoyed a couple of (not so) small plates - came away with a doggy bag.
It’s the perfect place to stop in at on the way back from Readymoney Beach and they’re open every day 12-9pm.

PERFECT PITSTOP
Can’t beat for a great coffee and cherry flapjack with an amazing view.
Had a busy day but just 15 mins by the beach helped recharge me for the rest of the day ahead. Luckily is just a 15 minute walk away.

FOWEY FESTIVAL OF ART AND LITERATURE
May 10th - 18th
This absolutely amazing celebration of arts and literature is taking place around Daphne du Maurier’s home town of Fowey. With an abundance of good cafes, pubs, restaurants, independent shops, water views and walks there’s plenty to do between all the incredible talks and music events.

MOONLIGHT
Wonderful to be greeted by a full moon over Polruan, framed by the iconic Monterey Pines which contribute to Fowey’s status as an AONB.

BLUEBELL?
Spring, as the churchyard and paths around Fowey fill up with bluebells and wild garlic, is one of my favourite times of year. I’m used to bluebells being blue and white but I’ve never seen one this colour before - what colour would you call this?

SPRING
Finally - after all the rain, the wind, the storms - there are hints that Spring may be on its way.
The first few buds on the cherry tree in St Fimbarrus churchyard and it’s even been alleged the sun has been seen!
Whether it’s rain or shine, there is always lots to do and enjoy in Fowey and is only 5 minutes stroll from the church and the centre of town.

SAFE HARBOUR
Fowey is a deep natural harbour that has provided shelter from bad weather and a significant international port since medieval times. Check out incredible reel of the big waves today and see how the calm the water is once you are inside the harbour entrance.

MISTY DAY
One of the things I enjoy about the river in the winter months is how the empty yellow buoys lead your eyes towards Ferryside, Daphne du Maurier’s first house in Fowey. Once the moorings fill up later in the year, you lose this sight line.
Thoughts are starting to turn to the incredible programme for this years Fowey Festival of Arts & Literature from 10-18th May - can’t wait.

REFLECTIONS
The lines of this photo almost feels like a trick of the eye.
It’s been such a wet and grey few months - not long till the Albert Quay pontoon is back and the river start filling up with boats again.

INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY
I’m far more comfortable behind the lens than in front of it but perhaps it’s time to show my face to celebrate IWD.

SUNDAY LUNCH
Wonderful Sunday lunch in The Garden Cafe on our way to Cornwall last week - majoring in produce from their own gardens.
I always enjoy seeing how the gardens change over time and the new All Seasons garden promises to be amazing.
Membership of The Newt gives free entry to their partner gardens and we are lucky that in Fowey, Cornwall is just 20 mins from and 30 mins from which are just two of their Cornish partner gardens.

FOWEY FOOD WEEK
Really excited about .food.week from 2-9th March and the opportunity to eat your way around the world with many of the fabulous Fowey cafes, pubs and restaurants showcasing cuisine from different countries.
I’m only on a flying Fowey visit this week so will see how far round the world I can get in 24hours but it’s a great opportunity to visit Fowey for the day or come for a short break. There’s so much to do in Fowey itself and loads to visit nearby- check out my highlights. There’s even sun forecast for the week ahead !

DAFFODILS
Love how these daffodil containers in the Passage Street slipway brighten up this rather wet Spring.
You can just see the bright colours of the Bodinnick Ferry behind - the car and passenger ferry which links Fowey to east Cornwall including Polperro and Looe.

Wonderful to see these primrose and catch the hint of wild garlic on my walk to St Catherine’s castle this afternoon. Spring is in the air!

MIZZLE
Mizzle is that perfect Cornish word to describe the combination of mist and drizzle. Yesterday was a day of mizzle.
One of my favourite views of Fowey is the two minute walk down Daglands Hill from Main Car Park with the sun shining on the water and the green wooded hills of the Polruan side of the estuary beyond …..but not yesterday!

EVENINGS
It finally feels as if the evenings are getting lighter - but I love this mysterious shot down North Street just a few weeks ago in January. Before the bustle of half term started, I had the quiet late night street to myself - felt as if I was in a film noir set!

SUNRISE
Missing the glorious sunrises from the top bedroom.
Love this time of year when sunrise isn’t too early and I can wake up, peak behind the curtain to check out the weather and the view and decide whether to pop out to catch the sunrise on the water and an early bakery run, or just snuggle back into bed.
is only 5 minutes from the Town Quay and 15 minutes walk to Readymoney Beach (trying to time that moment to catch the sunrise through the “portholes” on the way!).
