If you have never been on a canal boat before, there are a few things you need to be aware of which is fairly typical of any narrowboat on the canal; etiquette on passing moored boats, passing oncoming boats, which side to take when entering double locks, and where and how to safely moor the boat. Once you have settled aboard I will take you through where everything is located in the boat and give you some tuition to ensure a smooth and relaxing holiday. I will also take you through the first lock to familiarise you with the procedure. There is a comprehensive boat manual onboard which covers all aspects of operating the boat.

Location

There are eight pubs all within walking distance in Shardlow, the furthest one is a mile away and the nearest one only a few hundred yards away. They all serve food. There is also an Indian restaurant and a Chinese restaurant all of which are only about half a mile walk away.

Close to Donington Park Motor Racing Circuit, Shardlow is located in the heart of the East Midlands with major cities Nottingham, Derby and Leicester close by. East midlands airport is only 10 minutes away. Trains are available from Derby, East Midlands Parkway and Long Eaton which are also only 10 minutes away. There are bus routes from Shardlow into Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and East Midlands airport.

Prices and availability:

3 nights £650 for up to 4 people. Additional nights may be booked at £130 per night up to a maximum of 10 nights. 6 nights £1040 for up to 4 people. Fuel and boat insurance included. £45 cleaning fee for pets.

A deposit of £250 on arrival, fully refundable on safe return of boat and contents on time is required for insurance purposes.
