It’s been 2 years since I opened the doors of this little Shepherds Hut and I’m blown away by the number of visitors I’ve had again this year and so incredibly proud of the amazing feedback I’ve received from my guests. The garden is a truly magical place to be and I love sharing it with others.

Thank you to every one of my guests for choosing The Dragonfly Hut and showing me that the world is full of kind, respectful and interesting people.

The day after the summer solstice and the longest day of the year look up to the sky for the June full moon, which is also the "Strawberry Moon."
It's rare for a full Moon to happen within a day of a solstice and this usually occurs about every 19 to 20 years, according to Space.com.
The June full Moon usually appears reddish because it's close to the horizon and the lowest full Moon of the year, according to Almanac.com.
Don't expect to see a bright red Moon that looks like a strawberry, but it should appear to be pink or reddish.
The name Strawberry Moon has been used by Native American Algonquin tribes to mark the June ripening of strawberries ready to be gathered, according to Almanac.com.
In Europe, it's known as the Mead, Honey or Rose Moon.

It’s been a very different year without my beloved Lulah. 🥺 There have been some other ducks on the pond but none as tame and none with ducklings so far 🐥 although I’m still keeping everything crossed.

But what we do have are some exciting new additions! These Geese arrived a couple of months ago out of nowhere and set up home. She made a nest on the island in the pond and the pair of them have taken turns to sit on the nest over the past month. I didn’t hold out much hope for them as the nest was completely exposed and we have had some awful weather but…now we have goslings!

I best do some research on Geese now 📚🪿

Highly recommend a little trip to Frinton-on-Sea to blow away the cobwebs during your visit. No matter the time of year! It’s a great place to collect treasures from the sea and make your own sea ‘art’ 💙💚

Just incase anybody thinks Gin is a summer drink. We’re inviting you down to the Distillery to try our Elder Pear Dry Gin.

It’s made using locally grown pears, roasted to release their sugars, along with dried elderflower, lemon peel, local honey, ginger, cardamom and foraged Alexanders.
