Secret Trails is a timber holiday lodge located in the scenic village of Kippford in Dumfries and Galloway. It can be booked through Air B&B.
It is close to the world class 7 stanes mountain bike trails and many beautiful wildlife walks.

Getting the lodge ready for our next guests arriving tomorrow. It is such a lovely day, full of sun and birdsong. It really feels like spring is here.
RSPB Mersehead Nature Reserve is a short drive away from our lodge. At this time of year it is full of huge flocks of wonderful Barnacle Geese and other wintering wildfowl. We have been hearing flocks of them passing over Kippford for the last few nights, and sometimes they stop off briefly in our fields. The wonderful Wigtown Book Festival is celebrating their 25th year this year.
The festival runs from 22nd Sept to 1st Oct 2023 and is about 1hrs drive from the lodge. The programme of events is now live for booking!
Our ten day book festival in Scotland’s National Book Town is part of a year round programme for readers and writers of all ages in Dumfries and Galloway.
We still have space in July if anyone fancies a last minute summer break!
We love hosting guests in our wee chalet and enjoy seeing the comments and pictures left in our visitors book. We are very proud of our feedback on AirBnB (below) which we hope reflects the lovely holidays everyone has had with us.

We have purposely kept prices exactly the same as this year. With everything going up in price at the moment we feel it is important that everyone can still afford to have a nice break.

We love having families staying in our lodge and have made a point of including games, dvds, paper and pens, good books and a selection of toys for anyone staying to play with.
We really enjoy all the positive comments and feedback from the children who visit and as an added bonus this week we also received this lovely picture!

This weekend, have a unique story written just for you! Petit Prance will be typing stories by request live in Moat Brae. Using an old typewriter equipped with rainbow ink, this is a unique opportunity to have a hand crafted short story written for you and your family!
This activity is FREE with your regular admission.
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, there is blossom on the trees and we are really looking forward to welcoming our first guests of the year to the lodge at the end of the month!
While much of the east coast of Scotland is deep in snow, here in Kippford it has been beautifully sunny and clear recently.
Here is hoping the rest of the year brightens up for us too.
We can't wait to welcome guests to our chalet again once lockdown has eased. In the meantime we will, of course, continue to follow the national lockdown guidelines and have currently blocked off bookings until the end of April (to be reviewed as we make progress).

There are lots of beautiful and exciting places to visit in Dumfries and Galloway.
The first thing you’ll notice about Dumfries & Galloway is just how beautiful this part of lowland Scotland is, from its stunning coastlines and sandy beache...
As lockdown beings to ease a little we are looking forward to welcoming guests back to our chalet from the 15th July.
However, in order to keep both our guests and cleaners safe we will be spacing stays a little further apart than normal, allowing time between visits to safely clean and disinfect. This will mean fewer dates are available, but we want to ensure safety for everyone.
We hope everyone is staying safe and well during this difficult time. We hope we can welcome back everyone whose visits we have sadly had to cancel, at a future, safer and more enjoyable time.
Our chalet is currently closed to new bookings until after July due to the ongoing situation. Those who have already booked earlier than this will have their booking reviewed in line with Scottish Governmental advice closer to their stay. If we need to cancel we will let you know and Airbnb are currently giving full refunds.

There are lots of lovely things to do in Dumfries and Galloway if you choose to visit. Many are close to our lodge. Sandyhills beach at the start of this film is a 5 min drive away, Castle Douglas 15 mins drive away, and the world renowned Dalbeattie 7 Stanes mountain bike trail is within walking distance.
