Hedgehog Hall is a wonderful mix of Nordic style, rustic country living and ingenious craftsmanship. The beautifully carved doors unfold to reveal a space of pale wood and soft-toned fabrics lit up by the curved triangular window that is perfect for wildlife spotting. The eco farm and surrounding ancient woodland are home to a host of animals. You might spot wild deer, red kites and owls alongside the eponymous hedgehogs and the horses that live next door. A great spot for kids, they will love to pack the binoculars and stomp through the woods. Later they’ll be treated to a barbeque tea or something rustled up in the brilliant outdoor kitchen, then a clamber onto the bunk beds kept cosy by the wood burner. Grown ups can embrace the al fresco lifestyle with an outdoor shower and - best of all - a private hot tub. There are some excellent pubs within walking distance, too; one a short mile, the other a decent hike that will work off Sunday lunch.
