18 year old me! I had never been abroad or on a plane before, however I had always had an overwhelming desire to travel the world. 🏖️
I booked a one way flight to Spain, I had £50 in my back pocket and I went! I had no idea what to expect, I had no knowledge of the place. This was before the luxury of phones and Google! In fact, I didn't have a phone at all, nothing. No one could contact me if they wanted / needed too!
I loved that feeling, I felt so free! ✈️
I arrived in Spain and I vividly recall the heat hitting me the moment I stepped off the plane, a permanent smile across my face and I thought "I'm home" it felt so right. Sun🫡
I made my way to the destination I needed and remember feeling extremely accomplished, I had found myself on a plane for the first time and getting a bus an hour away from the airport to the resort ALL BY MYSELF! 🤣
I only had a small bag of items so I took myself to a pub that caught my eye "robin hood's" I thought to myself, it's a sign! (Being as I'm from Nottingham)
I ordered myself a San Miguel and got chatting to the owner, she was Spanish and spoke broken English and we really hit it off! ☀️
She offered me a room to rent and a job! Would you believe it, within an hour of reaching Spain I had found myself a place to live and a job. Well that was me sorted, I put my luggage in my new home, freshened myself up and set out to explore! ☀️
As I walked up the strip I started talking to PRs along the way and learnt many things I needed to know about the area, how it worked, where to go and what not to do! What an eye opener and HUGE life lessons. 🕶️
At 18, believe it or not, I was painfully shy, lacked confidence and was just really unaware of the world and how it worked. I didn't have the confidence to speak how I wanted too, I didn't feel my input was important or interesting so I rarely contributed. I mean don't get me wrong, I could speak with purpose, so I could happily speak up for things I need
