Having recently returned from Elounda, Crete, this was my 4th visit to this beautiful island. Elounda is a pretty fishing village and still remains a traditional Greek resort which isn’t too crowded or commercialised.

It offers beautiful Greek tavernas, bars, amazing seafood restaurants & boutique shops. Only a 5 minute taxi ride away from Elounda square you will arrive at the small fishing village of Plaka. This tiny village is very well known as it features in Victoria Hislop’s novel (The Island) and is worth a visit.

From Elounda or Plaka you can take a boat over to the Island of Spinalonga – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with breathtaking views this island is fantastic for exploring either on your own or by guided tour.

Only a 15 minute taxi or 20 minute bus ride away from Elounda you will come to the town of Agios Nikolaos with one of the landmarks being Lake Voulismeni, this seawater lake is located in the heart of the city, with several bars & restaurants around it.

If you would like to explore further you could hire a small boat or yacht for the day or if you prefer you could hop on an arranged boat trip & enjoy snorkelling in the bays or you could also visit the Cretan Olive Oil Farm: Enjoy wine & olive oil tasting, pottery or cookery classes.
We currently have clients in this area and are having a wonderful time.
