Day 3 - Lazy Sunday

Walked down to the front and booked our excursion for Wednesday through Mario at Luzzo Cruises

Day trip to Comino, Gozo, Blue Grotto 40€ per person

Today we had lunch at The Londoner … the service and food was excellent.

I had a Chicken Caesar Salad, Steve had 4 Mini Angus Burgers and we shared a garlic bread.

The cost was good value: with the food, 1 bottle of Pinot Grigio, 2 pints of Stella we paid 65 euros approx £55

Getting around Malta on foot is easy but don’t worry if you get lost, Bolt are usually less than a minute away - we booked online a ride to Balluta Beach and paid just short of 5 euros, so worth it as by this time my feet and calf’s were hurting … the humidity here in Malta is high so for a menopausal women to say I got hot is an under statement lol 😂

Tonight we’re going to a nice bistro called Tiffany’s personal recommendation so I will post an update later , for now I need to wake Steve up and get him in the shower 🚿

Day 2 - 5 minute ferry trip from Sliema to Valletta , 4€ each

Step walk up to Upper Valletta where we explored Upper Brakka Gardens, Floriana The Independance Monument, Triton Fountain, Jean de Valette Square

There were two cruise ships in today which was probably why it was so busy. TUI Mariella & Carnival Legend

Day 1 - let’s go to Malta 🇲🇹. I love to travel and have always wanted to visit this island full of history.

At 2am I got myself out of bed and travelled 1hr 15 minutes to Bournemouth Airport.

At 3:45 I’d parked up and queued up for my flight with Ryanair. If you don’t have checked in luggage you can get through security from 4am. Check in for us started at 4:30 and there were no issues. Today there were 3 other flights checking in at the same time.

I had fast track security but at that time of the day it wasn’t necessary so save your pounds.

We breezed through security? No issues and we’re sat having a G&T and pint of Guinness by 4:40 .

Gate 5 opened along with the other gates around 5:45 , apart from feeling like cattle being herded into gate 5 boarding was straightforward.

We sat in row 3 and legroom was good. The service onboard was efficient and being able to order online was even better. Good, Drinks and Duty Free were brought to seats and felt painless. Ryanair are a cashless airline so if they have issues with their internet I imagine buying on board could be an issue but today a big ✅

On arrival at Luqa Airport we descended the aircraft and headed for security. The queues for everyone seemed high but we were through I would say in 30 minutes and luggage was on the luggage reclaim when we arrived.

On recommendation we downloaded the Bolt app and booked a taxi (very similar to Uber) taxi and pleasant driver was outside terminal on arrival - we paid 9€80 for our trip to Sliema which took 15 minutes .., we were dropped outside our booked accommodation and we will definitely use for our return flight ✈️

We checked in very early but our suite way the Palazzo Violetta was ready and Diego on the front desk showed us to our room.

I had checked reviews etc and a friend had recommended and on entering the room I was not disappointed …

As we had such an early start we decided today would be relaxed .. we spent a little time down by the small a
Bit very relaxed pool area .. before heading out for a walk and finding somewhere for lunch …

So our wonderful holiday in The Gambia has come to an end today …. We leave the beautiful smiley people at The Balafon Hotel in Kololi at midday.

It was a honeymoon packed with so many highlights, monkeys, crocodiles, birds, swimming in the Gambian River and experiencing Star Class with Titan Airways - thank you .

I very last full day before we leave tomorrow 🤦🏽‍♀️… so we’re off on A Lazy Day river excursion booked through Gambia Expeience. Fishing 🎣, Sunbathing 🌞 and lunch 🥗. Possibly some drinkies 🍹

So today we went on a tour of South Gambia with our guide Harry. Was truly something to remember …. From touching crocodiles, to a walk around a cattle and fish market. To a lovely mixed fish grill on Paradise Beach. The Gambian’s typically smiling and solidly working to earn a living .. so much we take for granted .

Without our guide this is something we would never have seen.
