For food/drinks around the area. I can recommend 'HARBOUR INN' in Garleiston. They are 'Dog Friendly' for behaved dogs.
Just make sure you book a table before going there.
I also work at Harbour Inn and serve breakfast during Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays.
You need to book a table for breakfast at least a night before to make sure you will be served.
'Full Scottish Breakfast' is £10.00 ,that includes tea or coffee, orange juice or apple juice & a roast.
' Vegetarian Breakfast' is £9.00 with free tea or coffee, orange juice or apple juice & a toast.

We provide cleaning products/dishwashing liquid & sponge at the caravan, so you don't need to bring with you already.
Note: If you have young kids with you, pls keep an eye on them on not touching them without your guidance. Thank you.

It's officially SPRING 🌼, so I'm now hoping for more sunshine. Let's start visiting the local places around the area.
We managed to visit 'Logan Botanic Garden' yesterday and even if it's just the beginning of the spring season, the garden already looks magical. I will go back there by summer to check some plants flowering.

If you are a plant & tree lover, check out this garden. It's around 50 to 60 minutes drive from our caravan depending on how fast you drive or if the cows are causing traffic in the road on the way there. It's located in Port Logan, closer to Stranraer area. Not far from it is 'Port Logan Fish Pond' (around 5 mins drive from the garden), have a visit there as well if you like seaside and some sea creatures. Make sure to bring a picnic food, the seaside there is beautiful. Both places has 'FREE PARKING AREA' which is really handy.

They accept card payment for the entrance, £10.00 per adult and £1.00 for kids if they have a 'Young Scot Card'. Just bring CASH as a spare as sometimes their cars machine doesn't work like 'power cut' cases. The customer service is really good. Staffs are very friendly.
The place is wheelchair friendly as well and the soup at the Tea Room is yummy.

They also have a souvenir area, though the prices of their items are a bit pricey than usual but you might find something special. They are beautiful pieces. You can also buy potted plants and flowers there.

We provide the beddings and towels in our caravan to save you from packing stuff unless of course you prefer using your personal beddings & towels. We also got kitchen cleaning products already, corks wine opener (most important maybe).
Shop is a bit far where we are, so just buy food on the way, nearest COOP is in Wigtown.
We have a fridge and small compartment of freezer, so lots of room for your beer of course.

If you're celebrating a special occasion when coming over, please don't be shy to mention, maybe we can help to celebrate it a bit.

Family Day Pass

Wigtown Book Festival has always been a family affair and part of our mission from the beginning has been to encourage a love of stories in our young people. This year our award-winning authors include Charlie and Lola creator, Lauren Child; Scottish Carnegie Medal-nominated, Lari Don; and Blue Peter Award-winning fantasy author, Vashti Hardy. We're also throwing a stargazing party with Annaliese Avery, daily family yoga, and a family garden party with festival mascot Big Wig!

For £20, our Family Day Passes includes five tickets to any children's event on the date of Pass purchased, for as many events as you like. Day Passes are available for 24 September, 25 September and 1 October, during which our children's events take place. Tickets are limited to two adults per Family Pass and include children from age 0-13.

I planted herbs ( Oregano & Parsley) at the back & sides of the second caravan. Please feel free to pinch some of them in additional to your cooking when you are staying in our caravan. They are organic.

The Machars is a quiet peninsula, full of small villages to visit, sandy beaches at Monreith and Garlieston, and is packed with history, some associations with famous people, and great Georgian architecture in the main towns and villages 👏

Enjoy coastal walks, round a rugged coastline of cliffs where you can spot seabirds, and quaint harbours at the Isle of Whithorn, Garlieston and Port William 😍

Monteith Beach for picnic, romantic walk, dog walking or watching the sunshine or sunset is highly recommended. This place is one of my favourites around the area.

Overlooking the bay in Monreith is the bronze otter, standing as a memorial to Gavin Maxwell, the author of the famous book “Ring of Bright Water”. Gavin Maxwell was often seen exercising his tame otter, about which he wrote his book, on the beach below Kirkmaiden church, when he returned to the area 📖

You can find this statue within reasonable distance of the walk at Monreith Bay 😊
