Don’t shoot the messenger but.....
Spending 20-30 hours to get a good trip planned (yes, that’s seriously how long it takes!) is the old way of doing things.
The new way?
Well, ironically it’s what most of us did before. Delegate the planning to a travel agent who can do the legwork for you, make tailored suggestions, and give you access to special perks you would otherwise miss out on.
And a big bonus: you get to feel like a total VIP every step of the way.
If that’s how you’d like to be traveling in 2024, get in touch via the link in bio.

I'll be honest. I don't know why so many people put up with the endless Google searches, Internet reviews and overall chaos and confusion that comes with planning trips themselves.
Especially people who don't really enjoy doing all of the nitty gritty.
Because the alternative is so much better, call up a great travel advisor!
What you need friend is a travel advisor who can:
🏨 Serve up options that match your travel style.
🌊 Help you get clear on what activities and experiences are worth doing in the destination — or maybe none. Sometimes all you need is time to starfish on a beach lounger.
🔎 Research and book everything for you so you don't have to lift a finger.
✨ Jump in and assist if you have any challenges on your trip.
It can absolutely be that easy! Ready when you are to start planning, it all starts with a message via the link in bio.

The newly refurbished Iberostar Selection Creta Marine in Crete has officially reopened!
Sustainability runs through the DNA of Iberostar and is at the heart of everything they do, with the renovation of this resort no exception.
The resort is completely single use plastic free and the hotel is monitoring their carbon footprint and energy consumption in order to reduce scope 1 & 2 emissions. Materials and furniture not reused during the renovation was donated to local communities, giving them a new life.
One of Iberostar ́s Agenda 2030 objectives is to ensure 25% of each resort in their portfolio is green area. One of the main USPs of this resort is the beautiful gardens, so they have gone above and beyond here with green spaces representing 48% of the hotel grounds. This has created lots of ‘green corridors’ for our wildlife friends, contributing to the environment, as well as the customers and employees wellbeing and relaxation.
If you want to consider this hotel, or any of the amazing Iberostar properties globally, get in touch to discuss which would work best for you.

Happy St Patrick’s Day! ☘️
Please enjoy what is, in my opinion, the most impressive St Patrick’s Day tradition - the dyeing of the Chicago River!
Last year was the second time I’d experienced this phenomenon in person which happens the Saturday before the big day - I managed to get a great spot (competition is fierce!).
The event goes back to 1962 and was actually borne from attempts to clean up the river, which was suffering from terrible pollution. Green dye was used to test where leaks from the sewers entered the river by the plumbers union. When the manager saw the vivid green it dyed his employee’s overalls, he suggested to his childhood friend the major it could be used to make an eyesore into a decoration for the annual celebrations.
The formula of the dye used has been changed over the years and it is now a plant based formula which is said to have no adverse effect on the water. However, some environmentalists say it shows a lack of respect for the water the city has worked so hard to make clean and natural again. What do you think?
The atmosphere of the celebrations is truly celebratory and a lot of fun, but there are some ways in which you can make the day so much better for yourselves if you want to make the most of your time there.
Get in touch if you’d like to experience the Chicago celebrations next year!

Well that was that, 2023 is nearly over and what a year it was!
As soon as I finished this I realised I'd missed so many things and people out, but here are some highlights of this year in travel...
- I was chosen as one of twenty UK travel agents to be a Travel Trade Gazette Sustainable Travel Ambassador and completed my in depth training over the summer.
- I completed the Kiwano Eco Travel Sustainable Travel Masterclass and joined a group of like minded travel agents hoping to make positive change, beginning with animal welfare in tourism.
- I worked on and launched my new brand Nickson Travel and have had my best sales year so far.
- I travelled to Chicago, Crete, Mallorca, Sweden (twice) and South Africa - two of these trips were to learn more about sustainable travel alongside colleagues.
- 2023 was full of industry events and I attended Travel Gossip's Travel Celebration Awards, ABTA love travel's Delivering Sustainable Travel Conference, Audley Travel's Masterclass Day, the The Association of Touring & Adventure Suppliers - ATAS Conference, Hurtigruten's 130th birthday celebrations, the Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards and Sustainability Summit, the ABTA Lifeline Dinner as well as more online events and training than there is space to mention.
- Most importantly, I've continued to build my relationships with existing customers and been lucky enough to add a number more this year. Without you none of this would be possible.
Thank you so much for your support in 2023, whether that's through booking with me, recommending me, signing up to my mailing list, interacting with my posts, or coming to say hello at events.
Happy New Year to you all - here's to 2024!

Just checked in to the stunning Fugitives' Drift Lodge and Guest House - the rain has just cleared and the animals sound pleased about it! Can’t wait to enjoy our time here - this is the view from our private terrace and yes that is Isandlwana in the distance where will we visit on a battlefield tour in the morning.
Uncover the Galapagos Islands
I just spent a bit of time learning more about, let's be honest, an absolute dream of a trip - a visit to the Galapagos Islands with Silversea. As mentioned on my training session, 'every single day is a life changing experience'.
The Silver Origin is a luxury ship built for the Galapagos. It houses only 50 suites with 100 guests maximum, so you never feel crowded. With nearly 20 expedition guides to serve this small group, the level of service really is second to none.
I was particularly impressed by Silversea's commitment to sustainability - if you are going to visit remote and sensitive parts of the planet, you need to make sure you're doing it in the best way possible. Some examples include:
- Using a state of the art GPS system designed so that there is no need to ever drop anchor and damage the sea bed
- Every member of staff is either from Equador or the Galapagos, with all guides from the Galapagos islands themselves
- All food and drink is sourced locally rather than being imported, with 60% of all dishes served onboard being Equadorian
- Reusable bottles provided to each guest to be able to fill with fresh water made on board
- All rubbish produced onboard is packaged up and transported back to the mainland for sorting
- Silversea have set up a Foundation focussed on education within the Galapagos
Of course this is on top of the strict measures necessary when visiting the Galapagos - only zodiac boats are allowed to dock (Silversea have made sure this is as accessible as possible, even an 85 year old had no trouble!), only being allowed to walk on allocated paths and much more.
Lead in prices start at 8-9K per person, however there is currently a double suite upgrade offer on top of onboard credit and reduced deposits for bookings made during the month of November. If you are after a really special, life changing experience then now is the time to get your plans pinned down! The offer is available on a selection of itineraries departing between Jan
As part of my commitment to sustainable travel I am always looking out for accommodation options I’d be happy to suggest to my customers.
One hotel brand which is leading the way in sustainability is Iberostar, who have positioned themselves as an international benchmark in responsible tourism by promoting a business model focused on the care of people and the environment.
Iberostar’s Wave of Change campaign reflects their explicit commitment to the oceans, and the company's effort to share it with all of society. Its three strategic pillars focus on Coastal Health, the Responsible Consumption of Seafood and a Circular Economy.
As part of their 2030 Agenda Iberostar aim to be waste free by 2025, carbon neutral by 2030, 100% responsible in their seafood consumption by 2025, and improve the health of ecosystems surrounding their hotels through methods such as restoring dune ecosystems, protecting coastlines, establishing coral labs and the regeneration of mangrove forests.
You can read more about each strand of the Wave of Change campaign here: http://waveofchange.com/
Iberostar has more than 100 four- and five-star hotels located in the most popular holiday destinations in Europe, Africa and the Americas. If you want to support their work and ethos, then please do consider staying in one of their properties for your break.
