We love all things about The Smiddy, though of course we're biased - but our favourite has to be the view overlooking the Solway Firth and the Galloway Hills.

Located right in the heart of Scotland's National Book Town it's a perfect place to explore the shops and bookshops, local gin and whisky distilleries, and enjoy the beautiful area around us.

Both of our flats at The Smiddy come equipped with basic amenities such as soaps, towels and toilet roll in the bathrooms. Our kitchens also include cooking essentials such as pots, pans, and dishes to serve food and drink. If you’re a keen walker, our accommodation at The Smiddy is a perfect base for you to enjoy many well known trails and hikes within Wigtownshire. One is even visible from the window of the double bedrooms, and that is Cairnsmore of Fleet! It’s considered a challenging route, but the views at the top are more than worth it. "We stayed at Anne’s place for two nights and absolutely loved it. The property is a converted blacksmith’s forge (a wonderful job done) and it is cosy and home-y, with plenty of amenities alongside some games/jigsaws (which are always welcome in our books!). The property is located just off Wigtown centre so access to the bookshops takes literally 2 minutes. Anne was a great host and left the place spotless, gave us clear instructions on how to check in etc, and was quick to respond. 5 stars all round, cannot recommend enough!"
