A moody autumnal photo of Loch Garry 📸

We were walking along the side of the loch at the weekend with dark grey clouds rolling over the top of us with a mixture of light rain and tiny little snowflakes every now again ❄️

Loch Garry

Here is a recent long exposure picture from a beautiful Loch not far from my home in Perthshire. Long exposures have interested me from the very start of my photography journey and they remain a passion of mine. This was one minute and thirty seconds. I was very pleased to see this obtain "Explore" status on one of my long time favourite photography websites, Flickr. Only the photography die hard's will likely have heard of this one though. * Tap to see full picture *

In February 1963, snowdrifts blocked the Highland Mainline between Dalwhinnie and Dalnaspidal and five locomotives, including two behind a snowplough, became stranded. Emergency trains, one from Perth and another from Inverness, carrying almost 200 workers were sent to dig them out.

Sadly we can't always guarantee beautiful clear blue skies during your stay however we can offer plenty of fresh air and gorgeous views regardless of the weather 🌤🌧❄️💨

Had to post these pics for International Day of clean air for Blue skies 📸

Not only do we have beautiful blue skies behind the clouds but on a clear night the stars are amazing as we have no light pollution ✨️✨️

Nothing bears a Saturday afternoon stroll round the Loch ❤️

Meall na Leitreach flanking Loch Garry .

Meall is commonly used to describe a bare rounded lumpy hill in gaelic   and Leitreach meaning slope ⛰️

Dalnaspidal comes from the Gaelic,
Dail an Spideil loosely translated as 'Field of shelter'

Dail is gaelic for a haugh, which is a level field by a river🏞  and Spideil means  hospice or Spittal which  provided shelter in mountainous regions for travellers ⛰️

A photo from last summer hopefully won't be long until the green returns 😊😊
