Private Wildlife Photography Workshop in the New Forest Our Partner who runs this popular workshop will tailor the content to suit the experience level of the individual/s and their preferred interests. The workshop will be based in quieter areas of the New Forest (exact location confirmed at the time dates are agreed) for the maximum chance of encountering and photographing the wildlife in beautiful surroundings and lovely light. The preferred start time for this experience will be around dawn, or 2-3 hours before sunset and the workshop will last between 2.5 and 3 hours. Truffle Hunting Experience Day Melissa, our expert, will advise you on how to search for truffles, where to look and the tale tale signs to look out for. She will show you what a truffle woodland looks like, explain the ecology and focus on the woodland community. You'll see truffle flies, truffle beetles, feeding platforms and our wonderful animal competitors at work. The day starts with a hunting drink, usually a shot of truffle vodka, followed by an introductory talk discussing what truffles are; the ecology, duty of care, sustainability, highlighting the dogs, their techniques, character and level of training. You will each create a unique piece that will be yours to keep forever (maximum of 2 pieces) Kate will demonstrate how to throw various sized pieces that you can then replicate on the wheel yourself. You should then be able to throw two pieces which will be dried and kiln fired. You can choose a coloured glaze of your choice to be applied by Kate, or book another session to come and glaze your piece yourself. If so, then join us as we take a tour through space from the beautiful location of Hengistbury Head, just over the Hampshire border in neighbouring Dorset. Local astronomer Kate Earl will show us the Moon, star clusters, galaxies and planets through a telescope, pausing along the way to cover a wide range of topics including how stars form, the myths and legends behind some of the constellations, and how our Stone Age ancestors might have used the night sky. Paragliding is one of the simplest ways to fly. After a short briefing, you strap into a harness with your instructor, and run forward off a hillside and into the air. To stay aloft, we use wind that is forced upwards by the shape of the hill, as well as bubbles of rising warm air called thermals. Sometimes we have a gentle flight around a hundred feet above the ground, other days we can use powerful thermals to reach the clouds. No experience required for this tandem flight. We fly on nearly all days that have good flying weather.
