I travelled to this relatively untouched paradise in 2011 on a large trip around Africa – and it is so so beautiful there – green and lush with incredible scenery
Its recent awful history is sobering but important to learn about so make sure you take time to learn and listen. It is also here you can do some of the best gorilla trekking in the world. There is a reason Rwanda is shooting up the list of places people want to see in Africa!

This was also a destination on my epic trip around East Africa and it has everything you want from a safari destination – from the cute town of Swakopmund which felt decidedly Germanic to me through to the Sossusvlei Desert with its mega dunes and Deadvlei the famous salt plan with dead trees scattered around (a photographers dream) to the incredible safari wonders of Etosha National park - you could easily build a whole itinerary around this country alone.

In actual fact a lot of African countries are open/opening for tourism now they just don’t have the corridors for the UK yet so fingers crossed they are added soon 🤞🤞🤞(and non UK travellers ask me about your situation) – in the meantime get in touch to plan your African dream safari to Rwanda or Namibia....or both 🤷‍♀️😊!!!

This past week Dubai has been the hot ticket....but what if you have been there before and want something different?!?!

I present to you OMAN!!!

Same flight time....same climate....different beast!

Start off in the capital Muscat – set against a backdrop of mountains this bustling and ancient capital has so much to see – Muttrah Souk to test your bartering skills, Sultan Qaboos Grand mosque is a sight to behold and some of the freshest seafood you can find – it’s a great start to any itinerary.

Oman is also home to some beautiful coastline – the incredible Jebel Akhdar mountain range, history rich towns, plentiful wadi (oasises in the desert) and desert camping. There really is something for all different kinds of travellers whether you’re after some adventure or relaxation.

Sometimes picking a new destination instead of the tried and true can really deliver! (And no I'm not saying don't go back to Dubai after 😊)

🏮🏮🏮Happy Diwali everyone!!!🏮🏮🏮

One of my favourite things about travel is getting to learn new cultures and traditions and experience new wonders – I hope one day I will get to experience Diwali in India – I just think it would be incredible.

Diwali is a Festival of Lights and is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains all over the world to honor Rama-chandra, the seventh avatar (incarnation of the god Vishnu)

During Diwali, people wear their finest clothes, illuminate the interior and exterior of their homes with divas (candles like tealights) and rangoli (patterns created with coloured sand or rice or flower petals), perform worship ceremonies of Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and wealth, light fireworks, and partake in family feasts, where mithai (sweets) and gifts are shared.

It is supposed to signify a new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness – something we could all do with right now!!

India is closed for travel currently but when it re opens it should be (in my opinion) near the top of everyone’s to do list – Temples, mountain trekking, expansive National Parks, palaces galore , incredible beaches and who could forget the Taj Mahal – a renowned and enduring symbol of love! My list could go on and on. Its also enormous so you may have to visit more than once!!!

Need to escape the chaos completely and reset?!?!

A 'Unique Lodge of the World' Pacuare Lodge is tucked deep within 25,000 acres of unspoilt and protected Costa Rican rain forest on the banks of the Pacuare River, just north of the Talamanca Mountains - and to get there you have to raft in- so you start your adventure right from the beginning !!!

With no electricity in the bungalows, the environmental impact of Pacuare Lodge is small, and the idea of being “connected” gets redefined. 😍 If you can't disconnect your wifi for a few days this may not be the place for you (however there is wifi in the common area only if you're really worried)

I had clients stay here a couple of years ago and they booked the rafting package - they enjoyed the remoteness of the location, said the food was outstanding and it was really a total reset in nature. They also offer jungle hikes, canyoning, shaman visits and a beautiful all natural spa.

Pacuare’s kitchen is run by young people from the neighboring communities whose cooking talents have been cultivated at the lodge. The menu changes constantly and they use produce from their own farm as much as they can.

The lodge has also partnered with Dr. Eduardo Carrillo, a prominent jaguar expert, to establish a program that researches and monitors jaguars to support their conservation

This lodge is totally unique, gives back to the local community and environment and is still luxurious and romantic and exciting - it's the best of all worlds!

PUT THIS ONE ON YOUR BUCKET LIST FOR LATER!!!

I met from last year at a function in London and from then I have been desperate to visit her totally unique property in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru - close to Machu Picchu.

She left her successful corporate life behind to move to the valley and help educate children in the area - and to fund this her and her husband built a hotel!

The school opened in 2009 and the profits from the hotel go towards keeping it all running - they currently have 185 students. They also employ locals creating job opportunities and fostering professional development. They run on the Andean principle of Ayni - meaning reciprocity 😍😍

This project is incredible for many reasons - the hotel is so gorgeous - and is a property so is renowned for its gastronomy but staying there helps future generations STRAIGHT AWAY - with no middle men just straight community outreach

The property consist of 43 self contained casitas and 25 acres of gardens , its an outdoor lovers dream with activities like paragliding, horseback riding, trekking quad biking and kayaking to name just a few, an amazing spa onsite and 2 gorgeous restaurants it's the perfect place to base yourself before or after visiting Machu Picchu to allow a more gradual acclimatisation to the altitude of Cusco.

There are not many hotels in the world that work this way - and I cannot wait to visit one day!!!

I travelled to Haiti last year and found it wonderful and also quite confronting! It is one of the poorest nations on Earth – but I have to say its also one of the most beautiful countries I have visited too.

The people were lovely, the food was great, the Citadella at Cap Haitien was breathtaking (and empty of tourists) – and then there was the flipside of rubbish piles on the beautiful beach and lines for petrol as there was a nationwide shortage – the contrast was stark and thought provoking.

Some of the most luxurious places and resorts in the world are also home to some of the poorest communities in the world whether we see it directly or not – I believe it is our responsibility when we travel to think about the impact that we have – both environmentally and economically.

When you book your travel with an independent agent they have the power and knowledge to direct your bookings to suppliers that are proactive and care about their destinations and work for sustainability and to make an impact.

When I take an enquiry I always try and take on this responsibility for the client and I know so many other agents who do the same.

Our industry is going through a tough time – but the last few weeks speaking with people its very clear to me that travel will bounce back – and quickly when its possible – people are absolutely itching to get away!

When we can and when we do – we must do it in a responsible way, remembering how privileged we are to get to do it and making the best choices as to where and who our travel dollars go to.

This time last year I was lucky enough to visit all of the hotels in Mykonos to experience all they have to offer - it was hard to pick only a few photos tbh - the Greek Islands are the most instagrammed in the world for a reason!! 😍

They have 10 incredible hotels on the island each offering something slightly different depending on the vibe you’re after – from super romantic and private to young and funky to family friendly – with a couple of recurring themes – INCREDIBLE FOOD, beautiful rooms, lovely service and those magical Grecian sunsets – Really what more could you want?!?!

This company is family run and you can really tell – speaking with a driver for the company during the trip he talked fondly of how well they looked after the staff with people returning year after year to work their busy summer seasons for them - it was his 10th year! I don’t know about you but I like to see staff looked after and happy whenever I travel.

Mykonos is one of the UK’s travel corridors so no quarantine on return (yes I'm a broken record im aware 😅) – they are winding up for the year now as we move into winter but why not plan for next summer?

Throwback to the start of the year when I was fortunate enough to visit this beautiful gem in the Italian alps.

Just minutes from the ski fields dolomiti is coming up to a year old and was a blissful escape. And Italy is still currently on the no quarantine list for travellers from the UK!!!

The spa is incredible (so many different saunas!!) with food to match and the rooms are spacious and inviting. The view from the penthouse suite is simply breathtaking.
